"Destroying thousands of lives" is just a monetary problem. The "saving of hundreds of lives" is actually the saving of hundreds of thousands of lives from death. I can live with sleeping in my car or in a tent but I can't live with death.

I'm planning on flying to Vegas in September.

I flew this weekend and it was weird. Everything in the airport is closed. EVERYTHING. I had three rows (18 seats) to myself on the plane. Thought about upgrading to first class for $50, but they aren't serving beverages, so what's the point. Airlines must just be hemorrhaging money.

First class seating and food is so much better.
I once got to fly first class. I was in the Army and reporting to my base in New Jersey. I got to D.C. and had to get off the plane for about half an hour. When reboarding a stewardess told me I was being bumped out of my tourist seat by some French tourists. They made me sit in First Class as punishment for flying Military Standby. Yeah, I got bumped by tourists.

I disagree. The economic distress will kill people as well. There will come a point that a difficult decision will have to be made.

I’m hoping we can get up to Victoria somewhere between mid September and mid October. Hopefully things will have quieted down, virus wise. That assumes they’ll allow idiot Americans back into their beautiful country......as disappointed as I was to cancel a road trip, I am eternally grateful I did not help financially support a region that is so ignorant and backwards, and values their own personal pleasures over the safety of themselves and others. I disagree with your math, but I understand what you're saying. I'm in my 60's so I am at risk as well. I just don't think we can wait for a vaccine before opening everything back up.
