I'd love to be the team to facilitate a Brooks trading, us getting something with taking on salary in order to keep an asset but I think there are a lot of teams like that this year.

I'd take on a salary dump for a top 5 pick in this draft. That would give us a better shot at a marquee player than trying to lure a free agent. Too bad it would never happen.

heck i'd take on a late 1st for a salary dump. Once FA hits next summer the low salary on draft picks will be a necessity much like it is in the NFL.

Yeah, nobody is going to give up a lotto pick for a salary dump. I'd try for one in the teens, but would settle for one in the 20s. Or target a future 1st from a team that might be going down - too bad teams can't trade picks in consecutive years.

Me too. Might be able to grab sabonis in that range

Easy. Leonard. Robinson hasn't done shit in the league and is already on his 4th team.

Yup. I really wanted TRob to work out, and he can be extremely fun to watch, but I suspect a lot of it has to do with a low BBIQ and a body that's not built for an NBA four.

Yep. Trob will float around for 3 more years earning small minutes and then be off to China.

would you guys rather have trob or meyers.........
From the dude who wore a TRob jersey to the game last night: Meyers.

Nothing on T-Rob though. I've got a lot of admiration for him and how he stepped up and took care of his sister when his mom passed. So for that I'll always be a huge T-Rob fan, but as far as team need goes - Meyers fits the system better and can provide much more than T-Rob.

FYI, this is now a possibility. No better time to make a deal with them then while we're in Brooklyn, right?

No thanks. Crabbe is part of our 3 guard rotation for the long term I think. And Im not ready to give up on Vonleh yet. I still havent really seen a cap on his upside. What he did to Gobert the other night made me realize this guy is just very young, but with the right coach, he may just become an all star.

I would do Hendo/Kaman/Leonard for Thad/Brolo.

Ditto. We know what Hendo has to offer. and isnt really a long term pc, but Crabbe's upside is still not clear I think. He may turn into the next Reggie Miller or something like that. I really like Crabbes shot. It looks so smooth, like Cool Breeze. He always seems so calm and content out there, but plays with complete effort. If he can cut down on the fouls by moving his feet just a bit more rather than reaching in so often, I think he will become a seriously good defender, both on the ball and help. He is already at least average, but man, his shot....I think he may become our best pure shooter on the team. CJ is really good at hitting tough shots, leaning, etc, but Crabbe, man. Lately he just seems to glide into his shot in the air so effortlessly.

I like Crabbe and Noah a lot as well. However, both Thad and Brook are proven commodities who would (IMO) immediately make us a dangerous playoff team. The offensive versatility of a Dame/CJ/Aminu/Young/Lopez lineup would be tough for any team to match up with: two explosive perimeter threats, two talented athletic slashers who can both shoot outside and finish strong, and a premier post player. Plus, Lopez is a far superior interior defender to Plumlee, as Plumlee is a superior overall backup center to Meyers. Our bench after this deal would be Henderson/Harkless/Davis/Plumlee, as reliable a corps as there is.

You have to give to get, and I think a Crabbe/Vonleh/Meyers package is the kind of group of youngsters that it would require to entice a terrible team like Brooklyn with no draft picks to give up two high performing 27 year olds that are locked into long-term deals--exactly the kind of deal we need to make to accelerate this rebuild, and give Dame the kind of supporting cast he deserves. If we could do it without giving up Crabbe, great, but I don't know if Brooklyn is necessarily as willing to deal those guys as we might hope.

Yup, and I want to keep Crabbe because he's good insurance in case we decide to cash in on CJ.

I think trading Crabbe would come back to bite us in the ass.

I hear what your sayin, but im in the Natebishop camp on this one. Swap Crabbe for Hendo. Hell, toss in Frazier too if thats what it takes, but Crabs keeper in my book.

Very possible, even more likely than trading Will Barton biting us in the ass, and we can all see that that has already happened. Like I said, I like Crabbe a lot, and if this kind of deal can be made without his inclusion, than I hope Neil can make that happen. Obviously it'd be better to deal Hendo and keep Crabbe, but I think Young/Brolo would be of greater overall benefit to the team over the next 3 years than Crabbe will.

So, not to go all BGD on you, but are you calling Crabbe untouchable? (and LOL on the "hell, toss in Frazier". Yeah, I'm sure he'd be the difference maker!)

Frazier isn't a sweetener. Frazier is a garnish next to my steak and potato.

Guys like Crabbe are becoming extremely sought after. Case in point: Danny Green. Crabbe is actually outplaying Green, and the Spurs re-signed him last summer to a 4 year, $45 million deal. That guy is making $11.15 million per year, and he's a role player.

Exactly, and that means he'll probably get even more than that this summer. Are you good with paying Dame $25M/year, CJ $20M (probably what he'll get summer 2017), and Crabbe $15M--$60M/year on 3 guys, only one of whom is an all-star, and one of whom might not even be a starter on this squad?

Hmmm. Well no I suppose, but I think he should be last on the pecking order of who to get rid of. Id offer Frazier/Hedno/Leonard/Kaman.

Only adding Frazier as a garnish. Not an impact to the trade, not icing on the cake. More like the little flowery designs ON the icing. ;)

Just saying Id offer both Hendo and Frazier, before just offering Crabbe.

As I've said several times, I don't want to include Crabbe. I'm just saying that I doubt Brooklyn agrees to this deal without including Crabbe. If the option is include Crabbe in the deal, or deal doesn't get made, which direction do you go? Personally, I'm upgrading two starters over keeping a better backup.

I think I've gotten into debates with people about what Crabbe will get this summer, and I could totally see him getting 11-12 million per year. At this point, CJ has another year before he hits free agency, so I would feel comfortable re-signing Crabbe to a reasonable deal under the new CBA. I want that insurance because I still think there's a good chance we move CJ at some point.

I'm curious--would you be more willing to move CJ or Crabbe in a Young/Brolo deal?

I gotcha. And I can agree with this, but it wouldn't be my starting offer is all. :)
