I hope Nurkic can start consuming lots of film
I don't...he'll need to keep his weight down during recovery and rehab. I've heard that film is empty calories

The greatest risk will be his mental state

With Nurk most likely missing most/all of next season I will be shocked if Neil doesn’t put his nuts on the table and take a chance, well maybe not shocked.
I think theyll acquire someone via trade, because I don't see them not bringing Hood back. The odds that Nurkic misses most, or all, of next season are much much lower than the odds of him missing maybe 20-30 games (rough estimate assuming a return in December)
My guess is they’ll chase someone like Lopez, or maybe a Pau Gasol or an Enes Kanter. Someone that can be a fill in as a starter but also be ok with being a backup once Nurk returns. Don’t expect any major change at the position.

What's the latest on the Nurk billboard?
That's what I'm thinking, October or November."If Nurkic follows his recovery plan, he could return around October.
With his toughness, medical squad, teammates and Rip City behind him, it could be sooner."

NoWill he be back for the playoffs?
I'm hot and cold on Collins. Sometimes he looks great and sometimes he looks bad. I'm going to presume that Stotts knows what he's doing with Collins.I still think that by the end of this season when all is said and done no one will want to get rid of Collins. He is about to get some major run and it will include playoff games.
In a heart beat. You'd trade for him on his expiring deal?
I'on't know man...
You guys are too much. I heard a specialist predict that it would take him about 4 months to knit and then he'd have to get conditioned. I'm predicting 5 to 6 months, tops.there's some contradictions between what the doctor actually said and what the writer speculated.
the doctor said it took an average of 41 weeks for a return. And that was for just a Tibia fracture, not for when both leg bones had been fractured. And obviously, that average wasn't an average among 7 foot tall 290 pound people
the first of October is 26 weeks away, almost 4 months sooner that the average for a single bone fracture...and this OLive writer is suggesting it could be sooner than that? Sure seems like he's just pulling that out of his ass because it doesn't match what the doctor was saying

I just happen to know from an old Scientific American article that broken bones heal back stronger than they were before they broke. I see a bright future for Nurk.

I think in terms of recovery time he may be, but Nurk’s leg should be fine, and he probably will be seen sometime next season, how effective he’ll be is questionable, it’ll take time for him to play his way back.Your interpreting with your heart not your head.
Oh I firmly believe Nurk will be better and stronger than ever but, 5 months?I think in terms of recovery time he may be, but Nurk’s leg should be fine, and he probably will be seen sometime next season, how effective he’ll be is questionable, it’ll take time for him to play his way back.
am I correct in remembering that last yr Nurk played "lighter" at 265-270 lbs and this yr he was back to 290? Given this injury I wonder if it might be best to get back to 270 at least? Announcers often said 290 for Nurk on broadcasts this yr - any feedback on that?
I just found this from Sep of 2017:
"It sounds crazy, 34 pounds," Nurkic said. "But I'm still 270. So, I'm still a strong dude.
To drop weight, Nurkic stayed in Portland for much of his summer, working out at the Blazers practice facility daily in July and August before returning home to Bosnia and Herzegovina for a few weeks just before training camp opened. He said most of the weight loss came from hard work and ramped up cardio, but he also cut sugar out of his diet for nearly two months, slimming down as he enters a contract year in what will be his first full season with the Blazers."

I'm more curious about his health in terms of bone mineral density.
