So 6 points on 3-5 shooting, 16 rebounds, 3 blks, 1 foul, lock down perimeter defense

We could use a player like that

Nice job by Bell

I was one of the biggest Bell fanboys prior to the draft but the reason why he slid is because multiple teams redflagged his foot.

But I still hate the Bulls for helping out the Warriors.

Going to be interesting watching the Future RoY go against Lonzo Ball.

Surprise. Lonzo Ball isn't guarding Smith jr....

Yeah his point of attack defense is pretty bad. His size comes in handy here. He's pretty skinny right now but should have no problem sliding to the two defensively if that's the weaker of the two matchups.

Ball is going to be a good player, no way around it
Yup.

You can hate his dad, or that he's a Laker and question how much he'll score or defend, but the kid has incredible instincts as a playmaker, off-ball defender/cutter and rebounder.

Ball looks pretty good. I'll have to see how he looks against the big boys, but I may have to eat crow. You hear that @dviss1 ? I have no problem admitting when I am wrong.

Aside from that, Smith Jr looks pretty damned good on offense, but pretty lackluster on defense, especially on the pick and roll. Given the fact that he will be a starter this season, I think the ROY will come down to either Smith or Ball. I like Mitchell more than either, but he won't get as many minutes with Rubio also playing in Utah. Kuzma and Zubac also look good.

Motley looks very uncoordinated. Definitely a loooong term project.

Smith kind of plays like Harden a bit. Just running into the paint to get fouled.

It's going to be fun to compare him with Ben Simmons. Right now Ball looks better, and I was really high on Simmons.

(Looks like the only way to contain Ball is to have him wear BigBallerBrand shoes.)

So is Jorge Guiterrez going to get a contract?

So is Jorge Guiterrez going to get a contract?
Yes, but probably in Europe.

He is 28, so that's something to bear in mind comparing him with rookies. But he definitely adds something we lack: a PG who can defend. But working against him: we're paying Turner a fortune to be our backup PG, and Shabazz Napier is a much better scorer and therefore probably more suited to Stotts's system.

Steve Francis?

I think he has more natural PG abilities than Francis. From what I remember of Francis, he was more of a SG that was forced to play the point because of his size.

Smith is the real deal. I caught just one of his college games before I was sold that he could be a star in the NBA.
