I'll be shocked if Collins doesn't start at the 4. His rookie year he played next to Ed off the bench. I expect Collins 3pt shot to improve to 35-36% or so which will help him play the 4 better.

Yeah and there’s a reason they got rid of Ed. If Collins gets consistent with his shot I could see him at the four but I wouldn’t pencil him in just yet.

Rarely and it wasn’t effective when they did.
Well the Nurk injury contributed to the rarely part but Collins did start the 2nd half of game 7 against Denver at PF.

I believe that Stotts has been using Collins poorly, not that he only likes to play him with a floor spacer. If Nurk didn't get hurt Collins might not have even been in the rotation in the playoffs so I don't think we can take anything from who Stotts played him with.

There is a Forbes article that backs up HCPs claim.

I do not know how to link it from my cell phone. The title is:

"11.4 million reasons KL will not sign with Toronto."

Not sure I completly understand the reasons stated in the article.
But Kawhi likely becomes a Canadian citizen at some point in that contract, is that taking that into account? I can't imagine it is.

There’s a reason he’s been so resistant playing him with Nurkic. He barely played them together two years ago and avoided it all together last year. Nurk got hurt in March. Stotts had pretty much the whole season to try it out and didn’t. Kanter and Collins played together basically out of necessity because the team was getting killed on the boards. It didn’t really serve any other purpose.

I guess I’ll believe it when I see it. I’m definitely not going to be labeling Collins a power forward based off speculation, and only speculation, until then.

He has the lateral quickness to be a PF easily.

I think that has more to do with Stotts' stubbornness to only play Aminu as a PF and for some reason thought Nurk should only play with Aminu last year.

I don't have time to look at the break down but I'd guess Collins played more minutes at PF than C last year.

wrong thread lol

You can read the Forbes article online.

They do mention USA federal foreign tax credit. But the issue is CA. CA does not give a tax credit on foreign income. Since KL bought a $13+ million house in CA, 100% of his income is taxable, no matter where he works.

Yes, but like I said, pretty much all of his minutes at the four (minus the half hour or whatever with Kanter) came with a floor spacing center. So I’m just not buying into Stotts all of a sudden starting him next to a guy who provides even less spacing than Nurk, who was at least a threat as a passer on the perimeter.

We’ll see how the roster looks in October, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Skal, Tolliver, and Hezonja were in the mix ahead of Zach at power forward.

Kawhi is one of the few players who isn't going to be making a decision one way or another due to the money.

Yet it's being reported that he wants a long-term contract due to his injury issues, and that's because of more guaranteed money.

You're basically saying that Zach will be a career backup center then as long as he's in Portland. Everything the organization has done so far suggests they think Zach is a PF.

By not playing him next to Nurk?

And there will be plenty of minutes behind Whiteside. At least 20. If he shows a consistent shot then maybe they’ll play him next to Nurk once he returns but I personally like him better closer to the basket. He’s got great footwork and we need to feed him in the post more often.

But Nurk can play high post too, rather effectively.

Pels, Wiz, and Hawks going to delay the Davis trade for LA...WTF?

Well, I guess it's in their best interest. Those other teams each feel they are getting something worthwhile out of those deals. They could screw over the Lakers and say no, but then the Lakers just would find another taker for their refuse. The only team they absolutely need in on this is the Pelicans, and the Pelicans seem very happy with what they got back. So they have no reason to stop the deal.

Shit, now Toronto is probably gonna blow it up. Lowry, Gasol, and Ibaka will all be on the block.

So now the west is 1000% wide open, I honestly think when healthy we may be the class of the conference... that’s no bullshit either.

hmmm...that Clips team has Jerry West calling the shots and I'd bet he already has plans to fill out that roster real well

Kawhi & PG13; Montrazel Harrel and JaMychal Green; Beverly and Shamet; Lou Williams and Mo Harkless. There's too much talent and too much length and a whole bunch of decent vet free agents who will sign for the minimum

We have a lot of size and scoring when healthy. I think it’s close. We are in a seven team race of us, Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Jazz, Rockets, and Nuggets.
