Green Bay Packers Trade Target: TE Hayden Hurst
@TorturedBlazerFan , here is a suggested trade for another Ravens player.

2020 NFL Scouting Combine: One player for each team to watch
GREEN BAY PACKERS: Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama. The run defense needs a lot of help and Davis boasts elite physical traits that could dominate in the interior.

Packers' free-agent questions: Blake Martinez gone? Bryan Bulaga back?
A look at Packers Expiring Contracts. It's worth a gander when you have time.

Interesting they have DT as a need and you and I agree with that too. I think they gotta keep Baluga. I wouldnt mind them hanging onto Lazard.

After some thought I think the Packers will make more effective use of their cap space by trading for a TE rather than signing one via free agency. This will still enable them to focus on other needs or BPA in the draft.

The Combine is this week and we will have a better idea of where each player will be taken in the draft.

With that said, @TorturedBlazerFan , I think our Packers will re-sign RT Bulaga and TE Marcedes Lewis.

Then they will try to sign free agent bargains like the following (with estimated market value according to spotrac.com):
NT - Michael Pierce (2 yrs, $9.5 M - $4.75 M annual salary)
ILB - Joe Schobert or the cheaper option in Nick Kwiatkoski
TE - Not sure if they go after to top options in Austin Hooper or Hunter Henry. They may go with Eric Ebron (4 yrs, $30 M - $7.5 M annual salary). He could potentially prove to be the best value free agent tight end available in March

I think that will give them the upgrades they want at most positions of need while allowing them to go after the best players available in the draft. We should be able to land at least 2 top notch wide receivers, an offensive tackle and maybe 1 defensive player. They may even have a shot at a dark horse QB candidate falling in the draft and into their lap!
How did you guys become Packer fans?
Spent much time in Milwaukee WI and they are devout fans win or lose. On any Sunday they are playing, people rent out all the banquet halls at hotels for HUGE HUGE watch parties. Been to a number of them!

Grandpa was a huge Packer fan and I watched many games with him!

Cheeseheads for life, baby.

For me it was Brett Favre. He was my favorite player growing up. Not having a local NFL team made it easier. Also same colors as the Ducks well before Nike and Chip Kelly turned them into the Rainbows.

@TorturedBlazerFan , Updated Post for Packers FA and Draft

The Combine is this week and we will have a better idea of where each player will be taken in the draft. Mock drafts will be updated once the combine is completed.

I think our Packers will try to sign free agent bargains like the following (with estimated market value according to spotrac.com):
NT - Michael Pierce (2 yrs, $9.5 M - $4.75 M annual salary)
ILB -Most analysts expect Blake Martinez, Cory Littleton, and Joe Schobert to sign for at least $10 M to $12 M per season. I think Packers decide against re-signing Blake Martinez with his coverage deficiencies and go with an ascending player in Nick Kwiatkoski. And signing NT Michael Pierce will help defend against the run.
TE - Trade for David Njoku or Hayden Hurst. This will be more effective use of their cap space rather than signing one via free agency.

With that said, I think the Packers will re-sign TE Marcedes Lewis to another short term contract.
I am not sure if they will re-sign RT Bryan Bulaga. They may decide to move Billy Turner from LG to RT and go for another quality OL in the draft.

Many of these moves will help them fill some positions of need while enabling them to target WR, OL, and possibly other positions BPA as the draft unfolds. This will give them options and hopefully maximize their potential to add quality players. This is a draft considered to be deep in WR and OL talent. I'm hoping they will use that to their advantage.

I keep thinking about if they should keep Mercedes Lewis or not. He’s getting up there, may be cheaper options available.

Maybe, but he is still an excellent blocking TE. Aaron Rodgers considers him one of his favorite teammates. Take that for what it is worth.

I can see the Packers signing Lewis to another cheap contract for 1 to 2 years.

However, I am open to other options. I think a blocking TE is important in LaFleur's system with the amount of rushing they did last season.

@Hoopguru , are you a Packers fan?
I am more of a Seahawk fan now, but I do root for the Packers as My second home away from home during working years, was Milwaukee, and I used to attend allot of their Packer gathering in bars or hotels.
Growing up I was one as my father was a die hard Packer fan, back in the Horning, Taylor, Star days. Them Cheese heads are some serious fans more so than the Bucks or Brew Crew.

Im hoping Herbert is drafted by the Chargers, they at least have a decent O line and some other weapons.

They may end up re-signing Brady or just begin the rebuilding process.
Ok, I know everyone hates the Patriots so this wont be popular. I think Brady actually held them back this year. His age has caught up him, and he’s kind of a bottom tier QB at this point in terms of what he’s physically capable of. He’s obviously still mentally sharp and has an edge because he’s had the best career in the history of football. I think they’ll go draft a QB, or replace him with one of the FA’s and be a better team next year.

I agree. Brady is about done with his shelf life as a top tier QB.

You might be happy to hear Patriots are checking out Marcus Mariota in FA.

I am Duck fan, but I kind of think Mariota was wrecked by Tenn... So many Coaches and OC’s and at times terrible OL’s. I think he may be mentally kind of done.

I think Chargers, Dolphins, or Panthers will be great fits for Herbert. Chargers have the pieces in place offensively and a decent enough defense with good pass rushers. Dolphins really improved last season and they have so many draft picks and iirc FA money, good coaching too. Panthers are basically Chargers east.

Most analysts have Burrow going #1 to Bengals, Tua #5 to Dolphins, and Herbert #6 to Chargers. But that may change with trades.
