Yeah

Rajon Rondo out with knee injury

BOSTON -- Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was a late scratch for Sunday's showdown with the Miami Heat due to a hyperextended right knee suffered in Friday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Rondo attempted to warm up for Sunday's game, but the injury did not improve. The team elected to scratch him and he was headed to New England Baptist Hospital for a precautionary MRI.

He's listed as day to day.

Courtney Lee will start in Rondo's place.

Rondo tweaked the knee against the Hawks, but still played nearly 45 minutes while producing a triple-double in the double-overtime loss.

Fuck. There goes my fantasy team. And the Celtics' chances. That's the third ACL tear for a PG in like a year. Rubio, Rose, and Rondo? Watch out PGs with the last name starting with R.

Thank god has a last name that starts with L

Don't forget Shumpert.

Kome finally figured out hat he should pass to his teammates. Hope it's too late.

Boston sends KG and Pierce to Denver for Gallinari, McGee, Randolph and Mozgov

Lawson/Iguodola/Pierce/Faried/KG
Miller/Brewer/Hamilon/Chandler/Koufos

Could make some noise in the west.

Boston goes younger, but not total break it down younger, and has two guys who can play alongside Rondo well when he's back.
Bradley(Rondo)/Lee/Gallinari/Sullinger/McGee
Terry/Green/Bass

Houston seems like they've got the young talent to make a trade, and the supporting talent that could justify taking on some old vets who only want to win rings. They've got Terrence Jones, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Donatas Monteijunas, Chandler Parsons, Royce White to play with. Making the dollars work might be tough but I think they could get KG and Pierce and end up with a Lin/Harden/Pierce/KG/Asik starting unit.

I'm surprised that Motiejunas isn't getting playing time. I was really expecting big things from him after watching him in the summer league. He really looked like a vet playing amongst rookies. He also posted decent numbers in the preseason and averaged 21/10 in the D-League, but he's only gotten action in 16 games so far this year for the Rockets, almost always in garbage time.

Does McHale have a thing about playing rookies or something?

I would love to get him on the Blazers. The guy looked awesome in the summer league. Lots of post moves, decent outside shot, etc. Not sure why they're not playing him.

Yeah, I was impressed with his style of play. If the scouting report on a 7'0"er from Europe highlights his outside shooting, then you sort of assume he fits that typical Euro mold of soft, mid-range jumpshooting bigs, but after watching him in the summer league, his outside shooting only looked like one facet of his game, not the whole package. He's aggressive, crashes the board, and looked good playing in the post. I'm with you, I'd want my team to give him a chance as well.

I can't really find much on the net about his lack of playing time though...

He completely schooled Meyers Leonard. I remember that much.

The great thing about that reel is that he really only had that one set-shot from the mid-range, and the rest of his buckets came in the post. The one move he put on Leonard at 0:36 was a veteran move in a rookie game. Even all of the put-backs he had, granted against a lower level of competition, show that he's got good awareness around the rim for a Euro 7'0"er. Zeller does things like that, and people go crazy calling him the best prospect in the draft.

I was also digging his confidence. In most of his Vegas League interviews, he was eluding to the fact that he was better than the level of competition, and then you have this -

He's definitely got confidence in his abilities...

Yeah, the ball fake on Leonard was awesome. I remember watching that at the time and thinking this kid is going to be good. I really don't understand why he isn't getting playing time.
