THE "OFFICIAL" AROUND THE NBA 2012-13 THREAD...........

I hope he fucked his knee up something good...

Let's be honest here, we're sports fans, and we're not talking about Duncan getting tested for HIV, we're talking about him getting tested for a potential knee injury, after a 14+ year NBA career where he collected 200+ million and will go down as the greatest PF to play the game...

With the competitive nature of the game in mind, I'm actually hoping this takes him out for a while.

That would just mean one less contender in the West... :ghoti:

Not cool.

Out of all the fans in the nba; I don't think Portland fans wish injury to any player. We've been cursed for years and feel the pain. Injuries took us from possible contention to lotto bound in less than 3 years.

I wish nothing but good health to all players and teams. In fact I would feel more reward if the blazers beat a team at full strength.

Voodoo; your team beat the spurs before in the playoffs man. You don't need to wish injury to better your chances!

Per NBA.com:

David Lee notched 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists to become the first player in the NBA with four-straight 15/12/7 games since Kevin Garnett in 2003.

That's an amazing stat (serious).

Thank god he's not an ass clown like Garnett, or people will try to downplay it.

Pistons were down 18 points to Lakers. Only down 1 now with the ball and 15 secs left.

David Lee is damn good, but Aldridge is better

David Lee is damn good, but Aldridge is better

If David Lee had Aldridge's body he'd probably be the second best player in the league. If Aldridge had Lee's body, he'd be Matt Bonner.

I wouldn't mind hearing your case for why you think LMA is better than Lee though.

your homer statement is just as outlandish as Mags.

bad voodoo to wish injuries on people, aside from being a basketball player, the guy is a human, and has never done anything to harm you (that i know of, maybe he fucked your sister or something)

seems kinda evil to wish pain upon someone though

Evil to hope a guy hurts his knee to an extent that he won't be able to play basketball for a while? OMG the pain is unbearable, his life is over. Give me a fucking break.

No Blazer fan would think this

Wrong.

No, you're pretty much the only one.

And I am a giant pussy.

So you think Lee is better then LA? Id like to hear your case for that.

Never said that, but Mags said Aldridge is better. I just wanted to hear Mags, or any of you, really break down why Aldridge is better.

Well your statement is quite absurd about body and shit. Aldridge has a better win share, actually demands doubles and so far has a better productive career than lee so far. You could talk about lee having a rebounding edge over Aldridge; but then again Aldridge is making an argument so far this season.

Btw if you give lebron James body to Matthews; he'd be a superstar. Problem... They don't have their body which doesn't apply to actual value.

I honestly havent watched enough of David Lee to give great insight when comparing them. This is what iv noticed.
Lee is a better rebounder and passer although it seems LA is better at passing out of a double. They both can shoot decently, LAs the better athlete and is a better overall defender. LA is better in the post. Lee has better hands.
Im on the bus so i cant go into much more depth then that at the momentm

I was talking about comparing them right now. No point in comparing careers since they've gone down very different paths. Lee is better than Aldridge in most metrics this year, including win shares:

The rebounding still is not close, even in Aldridge's best rebounding season (though he had a good January on the glass). Aldridge is the better defensive player, though Lee has the better DRtg. Aldridge does command doubles more and probably a better pure go-to scorer, but Lee's developed into a pretty damn good option himself.

What I'm getting at is that most metrics favor David Lee this season. Obviously Aldridge has his advantages, but to say hes better than Lee with certainty is to oppose all of these advanced statistics developed to gauge players. Even by non-advanced statistics, Lee beats him in most areas. There's more to it, but its extremely debatable and I think its ridiculous to say LMA is better this season like it is a fact.

I'd trade Lee for Aldridge though lol.

First off I gave props to lee. And I still believe Aldridge is better regardless. I haven't seen the offensive skill set to prove otherwise. The difference between them maybe slim statistically; but both play in a extremely different scheme. Golden state runs on you while Portland likes to play inside out with Aldridge. A lot of rebounds are coming from back and forth games. I think if you put lee in Portland instead of Aldridge; he wouldn't do as well.

Lee plays at 100%. Aldridge is the opposite of an effort player and plays at about 75%. Aldridge is an all-star based upon his potential, not his actual output.

Ah yes, the old "black people are lazy" argument.

Alicia Keys just sang the national anthem while sitting down. jlprk will complain how lazy she is too.

Just saying out loud what most fans are thinking right now...

Hell, as a team that's competing for a 6-8 seed, like Portland, this should be good news.

This isn't a head injury or a serious sickness... this is something that will keep him from playing basketball, not living his life. Why should I hope he has a quick recovery?... So the Spurs can keep my team from advancing in the playoffs?
How do you know what most folks are thinking? I want us to beat teams at full strength.
and 04 Finals.
How could I forget? One of the best Finals of all time.
