Olshey saying Collins is a 5 happened like 20 mins ago.

That’s not what he said. He said EVENTUALLY he’ll grow into that physically, and compared him to Rasheed and Jermaine ONeal. Then he went to pretty much confirm he will be playing the four, at least this season.

Terry also brought up where Zach plays will depend on who he plays with. The names he rattled off were Meyers, Moe, Chief, and Caleb. Said he can play with Nurk too.

Were you expecting him to say something different?

Yes, very much so. And even a contrarian like yourself must admit the mention of Nik Stauskas being a "ballhandler" for a team that Olshey touts as a 3seed in the West is disheartening...

Figured there would be somebody still insisting he’s a PF. A second year player who will play the 5 once he physically develops is a 5, only playing the 4 because he’s not physically ready yet. I’m sure he will be slotted as the backup 4 this year but the sentiment is he will spend the majority of his career playing the 5 once he’s big enough.

I'm not arguing that Stauskas being touted as a ball handler isn't disheartening, of course it is. How on Earth did you not expect to hear comments like that today though? I haven't listened yet and could give you all the "lines".

I listened to 18 seconds of it and knew how the rest was going to go. So sad.

Asked who looks to have made a leap from last year, Dame talked up Meyers, of all people. Said he always tells Meyers that he looks good, but that it was different this year. That he came in with a different energy. Not "loud Meyers", but out there just playing ball and playing well--challenging at the rim, making shots, and simply doing his job.

Do I dare believe?

If you believe that Meyers will ever amount to anything then I've got some ocean front property in Phoenix you might be interested in....

It was happening last year also. Just people were stuck on "Meyers Sucks".

Cautious optimism.
I've had it ever since Nards got on the court last year.
I don't know if being that last year was his first off-season he could really stay in the gym due to health.
I don't know if the game just started to slow down for him. But he looked better.
Dare I say Nards deserved more minutes last year than he got.
However Davis was clearly better than him last year and Nards is not a 4.

One of the reasons why I believe Portland let Davis walk is because of the season Nards had last year. Nards looked like an NBA role player.
They're confident between him, and Collins the backup 5 is on lock.
However if Nards comes in and regresses, it will be a mistake letting Davis go. Even if Collins & Nurk both show out.
Until we see how Nards plays, we won't know.

I'm one of the biggest Nards haters. I will also be very salty if Nards plays well and we get constant threads by swish3
