I actually really appreciated Meyers' media day appearance. Seemed very business-like. Focused. No nonsense. "I want to earn the coaching staff's trust by displaying consistency, being aggressive, and doing what I can to help the team win." That's all I want from him too.

Do I like getting kicked in the genitals 6 times?

I just want Meyers to play well enough for ONE team to think he's good and want him in a trade. Is that too much to ask?

No, and I think he will achieve that this season, but the problem is that high school teams can't make trades.

Not true at all. His per was essentially 16 and 10 last year. Way better. the year before he was injured and the two year before that he was sitting around 14 and 9-10. Last year he played well for the minutes he played. Some just don't want to see it or admit it. And then there are those that will say "But for 10 million".... Well try to get yourself another 7 footer for much less. Bash him all you want but at least be truthful.

No. You're right. I will be truthful. I want him to do well too. So we can trade his ass.

WTF Harkless? He's still not cleared for 5 on 5? This could be bad, his injury shouldn't have lasted this long.

They're not rushing him back. I think the coaches plan on ET and Trent to fill in for more to start the season. We've got a nice home friendly start to the year.

Edit: forgot about Jake! Et and Jake will fill in for moe most likely.

There is a huge difference between not rushing someone back and not being recovered from an injury 5 months later when it should have been healed within a few weeks.

I mean maybe he reaggravated it over the summer during training sessions or playing wiffle ball with his family. Shit happens. They don't seem too concerned about it.

I hope he gets minutes early in the year to build his confidence up. He showed some improvement during summer league. He stopped with those off balance shots so that was a plus.

I hope he actually learns to complete his shots outside of practice. Neil and overvaluing his draft picks. (Rolls eyes)

Yes, he showed improvement... but it still wasn't enough to show that he's a rotational NBA player.

That's not a good sign

Look at it this way, Harkless is a known quantity (he's known to be moody, mercurial and inconsistent). Terry likes to experiment with the rotations early in the season. This is a chance for Gary Trent Jr. to get some minutes so we can see if he's:

a) able to play SF, or is strictly a SG
b) if he's ready to earn rotation minutes

I view Trent Jr. as a potential Allen Crabbe replacement/upgrade. He can shoot the catch and shoot 3 like Crabbe, but he's MUCH more aggressive offensively, gets to the line and isn't afraid to take a big shot. The season Crabbe broke into the regular rotation he played more minutes at SF than at SG. We ran a lot of small ball lineups with Dame, C.J. and Crabbe all on the floor a the same time. Like Crabbe, playing next to Dame and C.J. should result in plenty of open looks for Trent Jr. I look forward to seeing how he does.

If he does well, it will show Moe he's in a battle for minutes and the SF role isn't just his by default.

Asked who looks to have made a leap from last year, Dame talked up Meyers, of all people. Said he...playing well--challenging at the rim, making shots, and simply doing his job.

I believe that is a misquote - supposed to say "Challenged by the Rim".

I don't know why, but I posted my response here.
