Zach said in his live Q&A that Layman has been the standout in all their scrimmages and workouts. So either the team instructed all these guys to mention Jake or he’s Actually ready to make his mark.

Layman is this teams Claver.

Zach pretty much saying he’s more of a 4 this year, but it’ll depend on matchups. Said Nurk and Meyers will probably get the majority of the minutes at the 5.

Lol. The Meyers roller coaster is a go again.

I just want Meyers to play well enough for ONE team to think he's good and want him in a trade. Is that too much to ask?

I got you.
Trade NO to another franchise.
Then we'll have at least 1 other franchise interested in Nards.

I really hope CJ is genuine in his desire to pass more... it really is the only way I can see this team staying competitive. It can be hard to change when you have been playing a certain way your entire life...

CJ is too smart to not identify weaknesses in his game.
We're not talking about Dwight Howard here.

A lot of our second round, or late first round picks have had a 3rd year jump during the Stotts era. It wouldn't surprise me to see Jake make a jump this season. He always moved well and looked like a fluid athlete on the court. He just missed almost all of his shots. If he can calm his ass down on the court, I could see him doing some good things.

That’s whats frustrating about Jake. You know he’s got it in him to be at least a rotation player. He’s got good size, he’s athletic, can move laterally, can defend, etc. If he ever developed consistency with his shot, we could even be talking about a potential starter. It’s like the one thing holding him back is the one thing he was supposed to be good at.

Could Layman be a Joe Ingles type player?
Ingles is 30 and doesn't seem as athletic as Jake. He sure has found a niche in Jazzland.

Maybe? I think they’re better coached. This isnt a slam on Stotts, just I think snyder is a better coach.

Ingles is a really good ball handler, I can’t see Layman ever becoming as good. Layman is much more athletic though.

Best case scenario he’s somewhere between an Ariza and Parsons. Better defender than Parsons but not quite the scorer. Not quite the defender as Ariza but a better scorer.

good points, but I would expect Ingles to be a better ball handler at 30 versus Layman at 24.

To be honest, ballhandling isn’t something that can be coached. You either have it or you don’t. You can improve on ball security, etc, but I think it’s very difficult to develop into a ball handler after joining the nba.

Man the smart alek nature of mine wants to say some not clean things right now lol...

Anyways, I dont think Ingles or Layman are going to get minutes because of their handles its going to be defense and Shooting.
