Al Jefferson is a big time player but not much different than Hickson. If you want to trade Hickson for Jefferson (or not sign Hickson/Sign Jefferson) the team would be somewhat better but having both of them doesn't make sense.
I think our biggest problem is we play with 2 power-forwards, it's especially evident in the area of interior defense, where - like Aldridge said - we don't have a center that protects the rim, like we had in Camby, for example. I don't think Jefferson solves this problem. Maybe Leonard could become that player.
Shooting guard is also a weak position. Mathewss is already a good rotation player, Barton would be a good rotation player but none of them are clear-cut starters for a contender. I think maybe Elliot Williams could be that player if he's ever healthy.
Backup PG. Ronnie Price is OK and Nolan Smith had a great game against the Jazz. Still, they make our backup position less than average. Lillard should get heavy minutes anyway, but it would be nice to have a player we can trust as his backup, also maybe see them play together like Lillard and Smith against the Jazz. Coby Karl really impressed me in preseason but for some reason never got a chance for us or any other team this season. Another answer to this problem that I don't think we ever tried is to use Barton as backup 1. I also still think letting Armon Johnson go was a mistake.
