I think that is true. Draft a big and let Meyers, Freeland, Lamarcus and the rookie have at it.

Plus, Kaman has one more year if Olshey wants to exercise his option. I think it's more likely that Kaman is back, and Freeland either goes back to Europe or signs somewhere else as a free agent.

RoLo, for whatever reason, has regressed from last season. At this point, he's a liability, which I don't like saying because of what he's done here, and how "Portland" he is as a person.

I hope not. If we don't retain Lopez, I want Freeland to stick around as our 3rd big.

Freeland grades out as our best defender all year. I understand why he isn't getting playing time in the playoffs (you shorten the bench) but I really hope he comes back next year.

I like what Joel does, but I'm guessing he can make more money in Europe than the Blazers will pay him as a 10th man playing behind Leonard/LMA/Kaman or Rolo. If LMA leaves, though, that completely changes things.

Nards is our trump card. Harder than scarred tar, with handles like a star guard. He's a King like Bernard.

I'm pretty sure Nards is going to invent the 5 point play.

I already have. Nail the 3, get fouled, intentionally miss the free throw off the back rim such that it comes right back to you, jump/catch/shoot all in one motion. Booyah, touchdown, I make miracles happen.

Well in that case, shoot the FT from the 3 point line, and sink another 3 off the rebound. As long as your feet don't touch the ground I think it counts.

6 point play.

Why not step back and make it the 6pt play?

No! No, no, not 6! I said 5. Nobody's comin' up with 6. Who goes for 6? You won't even get the ball behind the arc.

5's the key number here. Think about it. 5 fingers. Starting 5. 5, man, that's the number.

This is a Something About Mary reference, isn't it?

Ok I'll eat some Meyers crow. I still have some of the same major concerns about his defense, mental mistakes, and position that could make it tough for him to ever be a good starter but he's shown he can fill a very valuable role on a team.

So I take it you didn't watch the game last night, and looked at the box score instead.

That Leonard kid is looking great! Bigs typically always take more time to develop. Meyers is earning himself a lot of money next summer. I'm thinking RoLo is disposable, especially if LMA bails to the Spurs.
Wait a minute?!?! PapaG comes back and gets banned before I can say hi?!?! WTF?!?!

This thread could be tossed into the McCollum and Freeland disatisfied group, Leonard contributed to our lone ray of hope Monday. He should shoot threes and LA should live in the paint. He's OK .. IMO

"Superman challenged Meyers Leonard to a dunk contest. The loser had to wear his underwear outside his pants."

Aside from his ability to hit 3's, the greatest improvement I see in Leonard is his rebounding. He is actually going after them, not just waiting to see if they come to him. His MUCH improved defense is a close 2nd. In another year or 2 he is gonna be a solid starter, as long as he keeps improving.....which he should.

Anybody with Insider access care to post a few quotes from Kevin Pelton's column on Biebs' breakout game?
