Aside from his ability to hit 3's, the greatest improvement I see in Leonard is his rebounding. He is actually going after them, not just waiting to see if they come to him. His MUCH improved defense is a close 2nd. In another year or 2 he is gonna be a solid starter, as long as he keeps improving.....which he should.

Meyers was consistently boxing out, and doing a good job of it, last game. On several plays he pushed Gasol or whoever was near him clear out of bounds. That helps him and his teammates rebound. On offense, he is often in three point land on the baseline, then he comes crashing in full speed when the shot goes up. Those are hard to get, but he's in there trying. Overall, his awareness of where he needs to be without hesitating and thinking about it is night and day improved over his first year.

So I take it you didn't watch the game last night, and looked at the box score instead.

Nice attitude Bozo everyone here watches the playoff games. Gasol scored on Meyers easily then for some odd reason Memphis stopped going to that. Meyers has had major foul and defensive problems and until he improves on those I have serious concerns about him ever being a starter. We will have to see what offensive and defensive adjustments Memphis makes. It's one thing to have a nice game when your the 9th option. It's entirely different when you were one of the three key players in a win and the opponent prepares for it.

Meyers shooting is elite for an NBA player; not just big men. He rebounds well, is athletic and moves good on the court. He came through in the biggest game of the year for us an that proves to me he can be a valuable rotational player.

Meyers held Gasol to 0-4 in the first half and 3-6 in the second half. That's not getting abused.

Watch the game next time, don't just put it on while you swill beer.

Without going back and re-watching the game, I will say that I noticed Marc Gasol had a LOT more trouble getting his shots off against Meyers Leonard than he did against Robin Lopez. Meyers has the foot speed and length to get a hand up on Gasol's longer jumpers without getting beat off the dribble. At times Gasol looked frustrated that he couldn't get a shot off against Meyers and passed the ball back out of the post.

Honestly, we need them both to step up, and Kaman, too. Marc Gasol is the best two way center in the game, and with Conley out, they will run even more of their offense through Gasol. All of our bigs need to make life difficult for Gasol - without sending him to the line. He's only shooting .375 FG% against us for the series, but is killing us from the line where he's shooting .875 FT% and making an average of 7 FTs per game. Deny him deep post position, stay in front of him, get a hand up on his jumper, box him out and don't foul him. Easier said than done, but I though Meyers did a better job on him in Game 4 than anyone else we've thrown at Gasol in this series.

I'm worried that after game 4.. You figure Gasol & coaches went back and watched how Nards was defending him down there.
I'm worried they're going to know how to attack Nards tonight when he's matched up vs Gasol.

My only hope is that we continue to straight up leave Allen offensively and double the post.

One of the most underrated coaches in pro sports history is Casey Stengal. And a good reason for his success applies to Meyers Leonard. Stengal was a genius at taking old players, one dimensional rookies and burned out pitchers and making them useful. Instead of seeing what players "couldn't do," Casey saw what he "could," and played them. Obviously, Stotts saw the same thing in Nards. Good for him.
