Man nobody is playing in the Olympic Men’s Soccer tournament.

No Messi, no Mbappe (Nobody on Real Madrid as they barred their players since the season begins before long), no Salah, no Pulisic.

I think Spain has got essentially there Euro squad if I read it right.

Learned just a second ago they have to be U23s. Doesn’t apply to the women obviously.

Also there is no team GB because England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland refuse to field a joint team.

EPL Matchday 1 Starts Today with Manchester United Vs Fulham

Italy has been going already, this week is also match day 1 for La Liga, and Ligue 1.

Bundesliga Starts next week.

Currently in total mourning. Not only did Leeds fail at the very last hurdle to get promoted to the Premier league, it meant that a number of release clauses in our best players' contracts got triggered and we have lost our three best players, who were also the future of the team.
Archie Gray - this one probably hurt the most, because he's a Gray, and there's a great history of his family with the club. He's a childhood fan, and he came up through the youth teams and burst out last season as an 18-year old. He will almost certainly play for England. Worse, when he was sold, it was basically assumed that we wouldn't have to sell others, because the team got enough money back to meet various requirements. He will be playing for Tottenham.
Crysencio Summerville - another great young player who had spent time in the youth teams and was the player of the entire Championship last year, bailing out the team on multiple occasions. He will be playing for West Ham.
Georginio Rutter - actually, this one might have hurt the most because it came so suddenly when we thought we were safe. He is a special talent - look him up on YouTube - and was another one who broke out last season. He'll be playing for Brighton, which is has a model front office that has guided a "small market" team to the Premier League and kept it there by very canny decisions and great coach choices.

A couple of weeks ago Leeds were favorite to win the league. Since then we've let in 6 goals in two matches and that was BEFORE the Rutter exit. Leeds fans are just shellshocked.

All of this was because of the previous FO who signed these players with release clauses that got triggered if the team failed to get promotion. So Premier League teams came and said "we'll have you" and basically Leeds had to sell. Meanwhile the team has failed to sign anyone new of significance (and has also lost a valuable midfielder in Glen Kamara). In theory, the team should have the backing of the 49ers, but all they've done so far is secure a hideous Red Bull sponsorship, and there are nightmare stories of what Red Bull has done with other teams they've sponsored (such as PUT RED BULL IN THEIR NAMES).

If you think the life of a Blazers fan is shitty...

Oh, and extra salt in the wound: one of Leeds' most iconic players of recent years is Kalvin Phillips, whom Man City bought off us a couple of years ago. They essentially tanked his career and never played him (despite him being voted most valuable player of the 2020 England Euro team that made it to the final (just losing on penalties)) and now he's going out on loan... to Ipswich. One of the teams that just got promoted instead of Leeds.

The Girl’s sophomore season kicked off last night against # 2 Stanford. Lost 1-0, but easily could have been 20-0!!!
Definitely a different level of soccer with that Stanford team. They have a few TEAM USA players and you could tell. My daughter got to go up against all American and future Olympian Elise Evans….saw my kid battling with her out there was pretty fucking cool! Wrong thread I know, just wanted to share! GO REAL MADRID!

And it’s showing… Rough start to the season for Leeds, but it could be worse. Definitely not the opening result they’d hope for.

Next week Leeds will Start Bamford and get a win. Idk why Bamford hasn’t gotten more run so far this season…

Mbappe, Vini Jr, and Jude is not fair :D
Yeah Real Madrid should absolutely roll through La Liga. Should they be favorites to win CL?

I think City are still getting the nod as of right now

But if it were City vs Madrid I would take Madrid.

Liverpool and Arsenal to form in their first matches, each winning 2-0; though they probably would have liked to start it off with a better differential, especially Liverpool which faced newly promoted Ipswich.

Ed Sheeran (Ipswich supporter) was at the game. The live stream I listened to had a lot of people saying for him to write a sad song about the loss.

Brighton supporters take a screenshot of your club atop the EPL table.

Isn’t Ed part owner of that team?

Bamford is, as the kids say, washed. He's had so many injury problems and he just doesn't have the pace. Mateo Joseph is our new hope. Farke worked wonders with Summerville and Rutter last year, so this year we hope Joseph is going to break out.

Bamford was always divisive. Bielsa stuck with him when everyone thought he should've just played Nketiah the whole time, but Bamford actually seemed to improve once Leeds made it to the Premier League, to the extent that he even got an England cap.

Bamford does have some truly special goals, though.

Spurs back in action today on the road against Leicester City; whom I figure @Rastapopoulos is hoping lose every match this season.

Dominic Solanke making his Spurs debut after leaving Bournemouth.

Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur!

Let’s go Son!

I'm hoping that Archie Gray is benched and eventually loaned back to Leeds for the season...

NWSL. Has a new contract with the players association through 2030. No more drafts and any trade has to have the players consent. Going to be some super teams and others that are fodder. This would kill the blazers if the nba went to that model.

Munich snuck past Wolfsburg week 1 today

Harry Kane Stunk

I don’t think City are going to win the EPL this year. Arsenal will do what they couldn’t do last season and top city on the table.

I taught her that shit FAMS!

Mbappes tenure so far with Real Madrid has been completely forgettable.

Soccer is strange in that there aren't many stats really. There isn't other stats counted that can show a players impact it seems. My daughter's senior season in HS, the other teams basically double teamed and marked her all game long trying to keep her form even getting the ball. Her goal and assist numbers went down. So if you looked at the stats and didn't watch the games, you'd think she struggled. Ironically her two other forwards on her team had career highs in goals. Such a strategic game.
