Boies on settlement talks: "They've (the nba) made pretty clear they have no interest in talking to us.

Who is "us"? Isn't Boies representing a small group of players instead of a union? The NBA owners should invite those players and Boies to NBA offices for some talks.

He's not talking about an owner buying part of a team. Draco's talking about how you or I can buy shares in most teams.

I inquired into buying shares of the Sonics in the 70s but my broker didn't want to get into it. I think team stock is traded on something like a penny stock exchange or something.

Fans buying shares in a team means nothing when discussing the lockout. I think we may agree on at least one thing.

The contract in China can be voided. It's not guaranteed for injury, because there is no union in China. I have a good friend who played in the same league three years ago that JR is playing in, and he gave me this info. He also said that everything there is a crapshoot, and you never know if you're going to get you next paycheck.

I'm well aware that JR Smith is an NBA free agent, as I posted about it more than once last season.

Didn't know that about the injuries there, thanks.

And, obviously, that's where my confusion arose, as you mentioned voiding his contract, and I just assumed a contract here, in violation of his contract, and not there. Thaks.

So it will be the 9th Court of Appeals that will consider any appeal to the original decision. Minnesota because that's where the NBA to an initial favorable ruling from Susan Walton.

It's selective shopping of courts.

Where did this hick come from? You're new to America, aren't you?

It's best not to try to teach law to the lawyers, Sonny.

David Boies and Billy Hunter are giving a "litigation update" at 6 p.m. EST. So there will be some NBA lockout news tonight.

New plaintiffs in consolodated MN suit include Durant, Nash, Baron Davis, Ben Gordon & players previously listed in CA, MN suits.

Boies sounds so ... lawyerly. NBPA continues to appear desperate and misguided.

Folks, Boies sounds like he's decided to strap in. Until #NBA owners relent and ask to negotiate, this thing isn't ending any time soon.

New players listed as plaintiffs include Steve Nash and Baron Davis.

Rajon Rondo, Sebastian Telfair aand Anthony Randolph also are added to the list of plaintiffs.

Carmelo Anthony still listed as main plaintiff. K.Durant, S.Nash. R.Rondo added as named plaintiffs. Will still be called Anthony v. NBA.

No problem! After re-reading my post, I can see how it was a bit vague as to which contract I was referencing. I do agree that a player can be injured at any point, and I'm sure JR got at least a few paychecks out of it.

David Boies is Exhibit A of why people have such a low opinion of lawyers. 4 months ago he was working for the NFL owners when some players filed an antitrust suit, and now he's going to be working for some NBA players in their antitrust suit against the owners.

Talk about having no ethical compass.

It's standard practice in law and politics to collect as many members of the opposition as you can to join your side, Rook. You should learn American law and politics. I thought you had to take a hour in it before they'll let you become a citizen. Or did you just sneak in?

Anthony vs NBA........ what a joke! Wonder when the next time is you will see Mello in an "NBA CARES" spot?

Union/TA atty says this is "simple" antitrust suit. "It's not going to take years. It's going to take months, if not weeks."

Boises says players chose Minnesota over Northern District of Calif. because of less crowded docket in Minny.

I still can't get over Boies being paid handsomely by NFL owners to try and overturn the same basic Sherman case he won last summer.

Boies: "If the league's approach is to ignore this litigation and go into a state of denial, that will not be in anybody's interest."

Boies says he'd love to be the first person to pick up the phone for settlement talks, but he won't because NBA not in a receptive mindset.

How far back are you going to go on this? The NBA owners obviously agree with my initial thoughts on court shopping.

Are you fading into dementia?

Challenged on why he hasn't called NBA, Boies bristled and said NBA statement shows why it's a "waste of time" to make a phonecall.

Former NBA All-Star Cedric Ceballos suffers "series of heart attacks"

Billy Hunter: "We're ready to sit down and get this thing resolved when it's so indicated."

Boies: "It's probably going to take a while for them to decide that they're prepared to negotiate."

Bottom line here: No one is picking up the phone to try to settle, and Boies is giving players' reasoning. NBA has not addressed same issue.

Boies says he'd love to be the first person to pick up the phone for settlement talks, but he won't because NBA not in a receptive mindset.

I ask this again. Is Boies talking about settlement talks with the players in the lawsuit, or in terms of a new CBA?

Seems like he can only be talking about settlement talks for the civil case, right?

David Boies: "One of the good thing about lawsuits: I know I’m going to hear from them in about 3 weeks." League has to respond in 21 days.

Ooo boy, all this is going to do is piss off the Owners even more, and the players thought their heels were dug in before... ugly

It looks like you big bad invincible owners will turn into fire-breathing monsters. Everyone is sure scared of your awesome might. It's hard to imagine that anyone would oppose you and your righteousness.

(I'm back on Nov. 15 posts, catching up, folks.)
