Move to the Pearl bro and become a hypebeast
stop talking to yourself and pretending we think you're having a conversation with someone else!!!!!! Hypebeast in a condo in the Pearl has el prez written all over it....you'll see things more clearly when you have fresh air to breath for a stretch....might take up to 6 months before the smellay washes off though

Doing some major research last night. Started thinking we may remodel the kitchen and bathroom later down the line. Father in law is really making some great points about while the roof is off to open the upstairs up with a dormer. Add a bathroom and walk in closet while it's open.
Dormers are great if you redo the roof....if you have some extra to spend I recommend a copper ridge cap on the roof...pricey but you'll never have moss problems if you roof with 3 tab which a pain in the ass to de-moss in Oregon...I thought about going with metal but the rain here would be a drum solo that lasts about 9months....I remodeled my laundry room which is attached to my bathroom into a walk in closet laundry room....love it! Wash clothes, dry them, hang them up or put them in drawers 2 ft from the dryer....take a shower and toss the clothes right in the hamper....no more folding clothes and moving them to rooms around the house..

Forget the walk in closet, use the space for a small dance floor and stripper pole.

Well getting the ball rolling this next week. With my schedule drastically slowing down, time to have the experts come in and start giving me bids on the work. Might be asking your guys' opinion on all things home related soon.

Be sure and change the gas in your mower and clean the spark plug! You should clean up with all the landscapers moving to Cabo these days.

Man I got Maxamillian and his friends coming over Saturday for my annual Spring Yard Cleanup! Can't wait.

Facelift and some liposuction would be a good start.

Wait, are talking about you or your house?

I actually would try to live where you are if I had to move back to Portland. Well, after the Pearl with the rest of the California douche bags.
I worked in a body shop years ago down there in the Pearl. It was on a corner and our break room had mirrored glass that you couldn't see in. California girls would stop jogging to adjust their sports bras and check themselves out in the mirrors. Good times

Already gave you my opinion ghetto child!

So we decided to put in a floor. We paid the deposit a few weeks ago, but hadn't heard from the sales guy. We were going to call him this week to see when he was scheduling it for. Contractor showed up this morning to start putting in the floor. Problem is sales guy didn't tell us when this was scheduled and we do not have any furniture moved, etc. Installer guy is not very happy with us. We are not very happy with sales guy. It's been fun so far.

Suck it up and pay premium for Neil Kelly. The bottom line is a heart stopper but they do absolute top quality work, and are well organized, on time and on budget. Plus no one (no one) comes close to their warranties (they truly are amazing). As my dad used to say, sometimes it's worth it to pay extra for peace of mind........I still shudder at the final cost but we're completely satisfied with the work and would do it over again without hesitation. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for........

It was Neil Kelly...

Edit: Oh wait. I take it back! Neil Kelly put in our HVAC. They were awesome. This was a different guy.

So a good friend of mine down the street just finished a total remodel of their home and damn he did a great job. Spent about $200,000, but doubled the value of the house. We won't be doing this much by any means, but it's great to see that all the hard work will pay off...... getting nervous setting all these projects up. Here's his listing.......

The asking price (which is just the starting point for the bidding war to come) justifies the fact that it pays to do it right from the start. Good quality work is worth every penny spent......

And we have lift off FAMS......
Just met with my guy Carlos. He is about to begin leveling and rebuilding my sagging porch. Complete teardown and new roof, install 3 skylights. Paint and new windows. Poor new concrete steps. Old ones are in bad shape.
The wife and I are very excited.

Please tell me that at least some of this is a euphemism...

get the most bang for our buck

Have you started yet?

I would treat this job as if I were doing new construction as closely as possible.
So the preliminaries are to get the house like it was just put up and ready for electrical, plumbing, heating etc..

That means the first contract is the rip the interior of the house to stud wall.
Then get testaments for:

Fix and replace plumbing
Replace electrical.
Install heating.

Check with your contractors to make sure you get the above in the correct order.

Not doing that much to it inside. We are going to finish the basement next. I was told I should rewire the house and re plumb, so that will be first up after we finish the roof and paint outside for sure. If we have money left over, we will do the kitchen and main floor bathroom. I plan on things costing more than planned, especially when dealing with a 97 year old house.

not sure if you've done it yet but I'd paint last .....especially after any electrical or plumbing...might have to remove some freshly painted drywall otherwise and paint it again.
