I think you'd go into it expecting to do that for the first year or two until it became obvious that the WNBA was not going to come around.
At that point I think the other sponsors and venues would free up. As would major network backing.
I would certainly rather go that route than accept less than 50% of basketball related revenue long-term from the WNBA.
Would I invest in that if I were Lorraine Powell jobs? Melinda Gates? Mackenzie Scott? Oprah Winfrey? Alice Walton?
Yeah, I think I would... I think a case could be made that these women would have a lot of motivation to float a league like this for a few years, And then start accepting paybacks that give the players 50% of basketball related revenue.
That would be an awesome move for equality for women. What a great story.
