"It literally pisses me off when people are like, 'She's not the face of the league.' What?" Cunningham said on her new podcast, "Show Me Something." "There's really good, well-known people in our league. I'm not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Hell yeah to that. I'm all for that. But when people try to argue that she's not the face of our league or our league would be where we're at without her, you're dumb as s---. You're literally dumb as f---."

It's no surprise to me that we have stars like Caitlin Clark, Sabrina, Paige Beckers, and even Angel Reese rise up after the WNBA did their huge funding round and put it toward a marketing campaign like they've never done before.

It doesn't take anything away from Caitlin Clark. I just think the WNBA is doing a great job of marketing itself now, like it wasn't doing before.

The NBA didn't market the W that way, or give it enough money to market itself that way, and it didn't generate enough revenue to afford to market itself that way. It took seeking outside investment to get it done. That took the vision of a new commissioner.

I have no doubt that Caitlin Clark could retire tomorrow and the WNBA would survive. There would be an immediate dip but they would still see growth over prior seasons and as long as it continues being run well it would continue to grow and generate profit.

The biggest problem with Caitlin Clark are her delusional fans that don't know anything about women's basketball.

I've said for years that women's basketball is more physical than men's basketball. It just is.

My daughters come home from every tournament with scratches and bruises all over their bodys (arms, legs, shoulders, face). They allow girls to slap and swipe the ball like they would never allow guys to do. Because guys would 100% fight about it.

Girls/women don't throw fits like that nearly as often. They absorb the contact and keep going. They get it done anyway.

It's incredible.

This is a great breakdown of how messy this could get and why.

Not sure how much sense this makes. You still have to pay the employees if you buy into a portion of the business. You get to keep a percentage of the profits. Not a percentage of the revenue (agreeing to a large percentage of revenue for a stake in your business would be suicide and basically likely result in eventually giving up your own rights as an owner if things go south).

In short, this doesn't necessarily prevent the players from getting 50% of revenue. The ownership groups just have to split the profits (or total losses) from the other 50% between them.

What I'd like to see isn't necessarily a 50/50 split this year but a system that works toward a 50/50 split while both the players and the league profit more each year (So the owners still have incentive to market well).

Maybe reaching a 50/50 split (or close) by the next collective bargaining agreement.

The first time was funny kinda. The responses and comments have been very funny. But it isn't funny now.

Just think if it hit someone in like the mouth or something?
Every sports team has strict rules against throwing any item into field/ court. It could hit player or spectator. Every arena says anyone who throws items is subject to being removed and arrested. You can giggle about throwing sex toys to women but it doesn't change the point.

Yes you are correct. It's not only unsafe but it's wrong on a number of levels. I just could not resist the low hanging fruit so to speak. I apologize.

You can only throw plush Bill Walton dolls on the court and only if everyone does it.
