Not that I'm aware of. Some are named after states... New England Patriots are named after a region.

In a way, the Atlanta Dream are named after a slogan. That's the only obvious one that I could see.

I just hope they don't do something corny like "lumber Jills" or feminize some male sports name (I doubt they will anyways). Or something weather related (like the lame "Seattle Reign" or "Seattle Storm") or stupid like "Seattle Kraken".

I like how the Thorns are an off-shoot of the nickname for Portland (Rose City for those who are outsiders visiting this on a whim because you searched for "why is HCP such a knob?".) I even like (tho I know I'm not supposed to) the Seattle Sounders name, since it goes off on the Sound.

I mean, I hate the Sounders and their fans can all choke on a pencil, but the name is cool.

I kinda like these name suggestions:

Portland Trident (to honor Portlandia...the statue, not the stupid show).
Portland Cascades
Portland Roses (tho, it's a little passive sounding)
Portland Swift is kinda cool.

I kinda like the Trident the best tho. It not only has a connection to Portlandia, it keeps the theme of T names for the pro teams (Trail Blazers, Timbers, Thorns, etc). They could even have it loosely connected to the three arrows.

The biggest issue with Trident is that the Shit-cans in Seattle use it for the Mariners and they'd probably bitch to the heavens (i.e., "little brother"...well, "little sister" the team and the fans forever).

I’m sure she will be the first pick next draft. Not sure how the W picks the position of the new franchises. Golden State this draft picked at 5th.
Saw something during their draft that said there’s like 250 WNBA players and this next offseason heading into our inaugural season…… 175 of the players will be free agents!!! That’s one hell of a fast way to build a good team if they are willing to spend.
