How about something that accurately represents the city of Portland, such as The Fentanyl Addicts?

In regards to the possibility of Portland getting JuJu Watkins, here is the rule about required age in the WNBA, which is different than the NBA -
In the WNBA, domestic players are generally eligible for the draft if they are at least 22 years old during the draft year, have no remaining college eligibility, or have graduated from a four-year college. International players must be at least 20 years old during the draft year.
Specific Eligibility Requirements:
Age: Domestic players must be at least 22 years old during the calendar year of the draft (as of December 31).

JuJu will turn 22 on 7/15/27, which would make her eligible for the 2027 WNBA draft as she would turn 22 by 12/31 of that year.
Portland, along with the new Toronto team, would be eligible to draft players that year.

She will be out most of next year due to her injury, but I can't see her staying 2 more years, even though the NIL money is probably more than would make in the WNBA.

I’m sure she will be the first pick next draft. Not sure how the W picks the position of the new franchises. Golden State this draft picked at 5th.
Saw something during their draft that said there’s like 250 WNBA players and this next offseason heading into our inaugural season…… 175 of the players will be free agents!!! That’s one hell of a fast way to build a good team if they are willing to spend.

Maybe they could pull a Vegas Knights.

That would make more sense if they played in Medford or Klamath Falls.

Fire is awful, has nothing to do with Oregon except for forest fires and I’m sure the poor folks that lost everything want that memory rekindled…

Please explain. In prison there was a maneuver called the Vegas Knight….but I’m quite sure you mean something different here.

Thanks for this info. One question, did you say we won’t be able to draft a player until ‘27, or did I misread?

Nah, our last team was named the FIRE….simply went off the whole BLAZEr thing. I like it, not sure if we can use it though.

We also had the Power in the American Basketball League. That’s not bad actually. And like the Roses, not sure the legality of using the names again. I guess there are Rangers in two different leagues and they make it work.

Don’t think the Chicago MLS team would like us using FIRE, that’s for sure.

It looks like the Valkyries got the 5th pick in this year's draft as an expansion team, so the Portland team and the Toronto Tempo will get the 5th or 6th pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. I'm sure a coin flip will be used and knowing Portland's history with coin flips, I assume we'll get the 6th pick.

What I meant to say is that in the 2027 WNBA draft, Portland and Toronto will be eligible for the lottery to get the #1 pick.

It sounds like the 2027 WNBA draft is loaded, btw.

Yes, it was extinguished after 2 years and should remain that way.

I never really got why they tried to connect Fire with Trail Blazers. The Trail Blazers name has more to do with blazing a trail in reference to the Oregon Trail not fire.

Time to start researching the WNBA FAMS!
We going to have a separate S2 forum for them @SlyPokerDog ? Will the rules be different? Need to start crackin on these rooks again. I’m getting soft in my old age!

The Knights won their division in their first year and won the Stanley Cup in their 4th year.

That's pulling a Vegas Knights

Actually they won the Cup in their 6th season. They went to the Finals in their first year!

Yeah, you're right. The wiki page for some reason didn't list all their seasons. Something didn't feel right about it, but I stupidly trusted wiki
