Just read that Lewis and Clark College may be changing away from the Pioneers due to a lack of support from students in keeping the mascot.

Portland Forest Cats
It's already been stated that "Cats" will be unacceptable. "Forrest Dogs" however would be just fine.

This begs the question.
Is Portland a FA destination as far as the WNBA is concerned? Why would any player want to come to Portland? They probably should just tank to get good players right?

Almost certainly.

I'm sure there's a new fancy hat being made as we speak.

(btw, I saw the Timbers, Blazers and Winterhawks tweeted about this...did the Portland Grifters Project say anything?)

To answer my own question, no. They haven't said or posted anything since Willie Mays died.

Are we even sure they have employees anymore? Is the gig up for that grifting party?

Yes, but that is for the Blazers. This team isn't the Blazers.

Blaze has more than one meaning and one of the most popularly used is in conjunction with Fire.

I'm not saying The WNBA team needs to be named the Fire. Only that it plays nicely with our NBA team name. But again, so would Pioneers (footsoldier who paved the way for the army). Perhaps even more aptly so.

To go with the trail blazers/pioneer/wagon train theme, how about the Portland Dysentery?

Or maybe more appropriate for a women's team, the Portland Died-in-Childbirth?
