No, I was saying his feelings don't MAKE laws.

Just because he feels Flynn is innocent (which, he pretty clearly is not) doesn't mean he can order the investigation dropped.

The 'he said hope' defense is not too strong either.

barfo
Well, when you use the literally incorrect term "order" there isn't much more to be said. I suppose the guy who bought the winning powerball ticket "ordered" the winning ticket. No, he hoped to fuck he bought the winning ticket and got lucky.

Right, and that's a nice house you got there bodyman. Sure hope nothing happens to it.

Pretending like words are interpreted literally with no context is pretty silly.

Making everyone else leave the room first, then telling Comey his 'hope', then firing him when his 'hope' didn't come true makes it appear as if he wasn't just 'hoping'.

But, I wasn't there. Perhaps you are right. Maybe the next thing he said was "And I hope for world peace and a blow job, too. But I don't expect you to deliver any of those things, Jim.

Oh, except for the last one."

I don't know, maybe every time Trump farts being leaked to the press might make someone want to keep something minimal so he knows who leaked it.

I hope you don't go stick your hand in an operating food processor. If you want to consider that an order that's your fault.

I don't know, maybe every time Trump farts being leaked to the press might make someone want to keep something minimal so he knows who leaked it.

It's usually him, on twitter: "I FARTED just now. Greatest fart EVER. Obama never farted in 8 years. SAD!"

I hope you don't go stick your hand in an operating food processor. If you want to consider that an order that's your fault.

Context tells me that that is not an order.

And holy fuck I would ban every government employee from ever tweeting anything unless it is an emergency. Including the President. There is literally no benefit to it and I don't for the life of me know why he does it.

The last president didn't have a lot of relevant experience, but he had some. And he was also smart enough to know what he didn't know, and to hire qualified people and listen to their advice.

Big difference.

barfo

Big?

All the guy really accomplished was spending enormous sums of money that we didn't have to spend.

I'll grant you he was good at that.

Matthews seems to be talking about Trump personally, not the campaign. And, he's just a talking head anyway, he's not privy to what Mueller has or doesn't have on Trump.

You need new talking points.

National Security Correspondent Jim Scuitto, on CNN Newsroom on February 24 said, “Multiple U.S. officials tell CNN the White House sought the help of the bureau and other agencies investigating the Russia matter to say that the reports were wrong and that there had been no contacts, these officials said…You may recall that CNN and The New York Times first reported on this just over a week ago and so far the White House has not commented on the record. I should say that the FBI is still investigating these alleged communications.”

In his June 8 hearing, the former FBI Director said that, “there’ve been many, many stories purportedly based on classified information, about – well, about lots of stuff, but especially about Russia that are just dead wrong.”

Later in the hearing, Sen. Tom Cotton asked, “On February 14, published a story, the headline of which was ‘Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence.’ You were asked earlier if that was an inaccurate story, and you said in the main. Would it be fair to characterize that story as almost entirely wrong?”

“Yes.” Comey replied, simply.

http://www.news.com.au/finance/busi...y/news-story/9f4298928e443b697985086616370aa4

The snub came just 24 hours after Comey told a Senate panel that an anonymously-sourced Times report from mid-February was false.

“In the main, it was not true,” Comey said of the article, which contained details about Trump associates having “repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election.”

In his Thursday testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, former FBI director James B. Comey said that a controversial New York Times story in February about alleged contacts between Trump intimates and Russian officials was bogus. “In the main, it was not true,” he said.

...

The opening sentence: “Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials.” Though the story said that officials had found no evidence of collusion by Trump associates with Russia, it alleged that the intercepted communications “alarmed” U.S. officials because it overlapped with Trump’s complimentary comments about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

That particular story may have been wrong on the specifics, but we know people associated with Trump campaign had contacts with the Russians, they've admitted it. So the interpretation that you are trying to sell here - that the campaign had nothing whatsoever to do with Russia - is clearly false.

http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/mccarthy-says-communists-are-in-state-department

Speaking before the Ohio County Women’s Republican Club in Wheeling, West Virginia, Senator McCarthy waved before his audience a piece of paper. According to the only published newspaper account of the speech, McCarthy said that, “I have here in my hand a list of 205 [State Department employees] that were known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nevertheless are still working and shaping the policy of the State Department.” In the next few weeks, the number fluctuated wildly, with McCarthy stating at various times that there were 57, or 81, or 10 communists in the Department of State. In fact, McCarthy never produced any solid evidence that there was even one communist in the State Department.

Despite McCarthy’s inconsistency, his refusal to provide any of the names of the “known communists,” and his inability to produce any coherent or reasonable evidence, his charges struck a chord with the American people. The months leading up to his February speech had been trying ones for America’s Cold War policies. China had fallen to a communist revolution. The Soviets had detonated an atomic device. McCarthy’s wild charges provided a ready explanation for these foreign policy disasters: communist subversives were working within the very bowels of the American government.

He just glazed over the whole "specifically about Russia" part.

Multiple sources confirm Barfo has been cheating on his wife for years......

Wait, the director of the FBI said that was all fake?

Well, Barfo did admit to going to lunch with a girl he went to school with years ago. GET HIM!!!!

Life is a process of elimination....

There aren't 500 regular posters in this forum. Ignoring anyone with an honest opinion is really lame. If you don't agree with it explain why.

You just posted about the left and the right getting along and I called it kum bah ya. Ignoring someone is a passive aggressive act that just makes you look bad. I still subject myself to twitterbird's constant stream of bile. Every so often I agree with something in one of them. Hell, I might even learn something new.

I've only put one person on ignore for a few days because I was tired of seeing bananas every time he posted.

Good to know that the right wing blogosphere is experimenting with "Dems = McCarthy!" memes. Thanks to our reliable mouthpiece here, the rest of us don't have to go there.

I have no problem with honest opinions ....I have a problem when those opinions are contentious and when people talk at me instead of at the subject...I rarely use the ignore button but I also love to mute the noise out there. Just because some asshole in a pub is baiting a person doesn't mean that person has to sit next to them or pay attention to their bs. Kumbaya some of that shit! I enjoy when you talk about cars...

He just glazed over the whole "specifically about Russia" part.

I'm fine with the idea that every single press report about Russia/Trump has been entirely incorrect, if that's how you want to interpret Comey's testimony.

However: we know for a fact that multiple Trump people have met with Russians, because they have admitted doing so (sometimes under oath).

So it isn't the case that the Trump campaign had nothing to do with Russians. They clearly did. What exactly the nature of those meetings were is yet unknown.

Odd how that McCarthy thing fits so well.

I'm waiting for some reporter with honor to ask, "have you no shame?" to the rest of the sorry lot.

Your "mainstream" media has lost so much credibility that nobody will know unless congress does something.

If you ignore me you'd miss that. I enjoy when you talk about traveling the world and I get a different perspective from that.

When someone here posts tweet after tweet from an actor who played a security guard in a recent Ice Cube movie I see the beauty of the ignore feature, don't think I don't understand.

Then again, I get a lot of laughs reading then even though that isn't the intent of his posts.

Glad to see you equate McCarthyism with Trumpism. That's probably the most accurate thing you've ever posted. And we all know how it ended for McCarthy. He had his flight of fancy (fantasy is more like it) before the wings came off and he crashed hard. And that same thing is going to happen to Donny. Whistle past the graveyard all you want, you can't stop the inevitable....

Lord! :noevil: The last guy doesn't fit.
Huh?????? Trump's claims of Comey tapes, his claim that Obama wire tapped him, his lies about inauguration crowds, etc, etc, etc, are all on at least the same level as McCarthy's bogus (and wishful) enemies list. Nothing that comes out of Donny's mouth is believable. He is McCarthy s identical ideological twin. And that will eventually catch up with him and bring him down.

I equate McCarthyism with accusing government officials of Russian influence without any proof. And how it was eventually exposed.

It's eerily the same movie we've seen before.

Oh, horseshit.

People were sent to jail, and many more lost their jobs due to McCarthyism.
Nothing like that is happening here, unless you want to count Flynn getting fired, and if so, you have to blame Trump, not the press.
