Mook, I usually agree with you butnot on Batum. What happens when teams take away LA and Roy like Houston did? Basically they are saying "someone else beat us" and guess what... there is nobody else. Miller might get us 17 but hes not a legit 3rd option. Thats why we need a Sf who can score and defend. Also dont forget by blake coming off the bench... we need to start webster so someone can hit a three.
Miller has been a first, second or third option on offense his entire career. But now he isn't? He was the clear second option last year.
Oden, when he really hits his stride, is going to be (at least) a 14-15 ppg player. If he could stay out of foul trouble (a problem that should dissipate, as it does for most centers) he would average 15 ppg per 36 minutes without any improvement in his game at all.
Roy has added about 3 ppg in his second and third seasons. If he does it again, he's at about 26 ppg. You can live without a third main scorer if you have an offensive player like that.
Fernandez was the second best player on a team that just won the European championship. We may yet find a way to mold him into our third scorer.
You really think with all these things going for us we're going to be held back because we lack a third scoring option? I think you're crazy. I think you are living in last year, that the problems in one series against the Houston Rockets will be the same problems we always face. With a team as young and loaded as we have, and with the addition of Miller, it's just not realistic.
If we don't win a championship, it's going to be because an insanely good player just kicks our ass, much like Jordan did to everybody in the 1990's. I'm thinking LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Durant....
What's the best protection against a superstar wing man unloading all kinds of awesome on our team? It sure as fuck ain't Hedo Turkoglu.
Is it Batum? Maybe.
