not yet on the list. "heavily considering" adding to the list.

lmao this is some bullshit
The way I look at it, either new york gets a shitty return from Cleveland or OKC for Melo or they can actually get some young pieces from here and Melo is the best fit here or he just stays in New york and is miserable

There is leverage in NY, the Knicks can say "Look Melo Portland has the only offer we are willing to take, it's either Portland or stay"

Sure but it wouldn't hurt NY to see if someone had a better offer. Maybe a team that Melo would also go to.

Looking at knicks reddit on this Berman report of Melo "heavily considering"

"Saw a comment that made sense. The only reason he hasn't put the trailblazers on the list yet is because a deal would immediately get done. Looks like he's working through a ranking of teams. Houston couldn't make it happen. Going to give OKC and Cleveland a shot. If they fail, it seems like he might go to Portland for the year."

If its only for the year they take Vonleh Moe and Lenoard no pick

logic says he should already be here by now

Logic says that Portland is the farthest away from his son. If it weren't for geography, I think he'd already be a Blazer. That said, if OKC and the Cavs can't come up with a viable deal, the Blazers may be the last chance to avoid a season in basketball purgatory.

I'm not giving up Collins or swanigan

We won't. This is a good time to have a GM who values his draft picks. A lot of people think Olshey loves his picks too much, but it's both good and bad. This is the good part.

Meyers is the bad.

Will OKC offer up Steven Adams? I don't think they should. Kanter and Melo would be an awful defensive 4 and 5.

But if they were to offer Adams and filler, i'd take that if i was NY.
Why? Hernangomez is just as good, and younger, and cheaper. He's their future. Don't think OKC would want Adams at all.

At this point i'm fine if we get Melo or we don't get Melo just let this drama end.

The more I think about the more questions I have about the timing of this. Three days before camp he opens up his list? This is a last ditch effort to get a better deal from someone not named Portland. The Portland deal is ready to go. Just my hunch.
Yep.

I love this because of the complete idiocy, from clutchfans:

"The Cavs at least makes sense. Portland still makes ZERO sense. But what can the Cavs offer? That 1st rounder is worth way more than Melo. I wouldn't trade Love for Melo."

The cavs make sense, but they can't offer anything.

lol. Makes sense, champ.

They are easily the most delusional fanbase I have ever seen.

It's been NY or Portland since July and NY made that clear yesterday when they said they expect Melo at training camp. If he says no to Portland, he stays in NY. I tried to explain this to Clutchfans months ago and they flipped out.

If I'm Dame and CJ, I'm having a hard time not taking this personally though.

Melo is basically saying that he'd rather play with Russ/PG13 or LeBron/Love/IT.

Does anyone else think opening his list up first to two more teams (HOU being the first) that can't offer the Knicks shit for Carmelo actually works in the Blazers favor?

The Knicks best offer from HOU was Ryan Anderson - too old, injury prone, plays same position as Porzingis, grotesquely overpaid with three more years left on his contract.

CLE won't give up that tasty draft pick they got from the Celtics because they know they will need it to start their rebuild when LeBron jumps ship. They have NOTHING else that a rebuild team wants. While Kevin Love is better than Ryan Anderson, he's also too old to for their timeline and also plays the same position as Porzingis.

OKC is the most pathetic of the three. The only hope they have of even matching salaries are Kanter and Adams - who play the same position as Porzingis and Hernangomez, the two cornerstones of NYK's rebuilding effort. OKC already lacks depth. So anything they give up further guts an already severely gutted team. Plus, it's fucking Cow Town USA.

Maybe this was the plan all all along. Carmelo is smart and wants to win. If it's obvious no one else can offer shit, it will give Neil more leverage to give up as little as possible. This may make it possible to include Meyers Leonard as part of the package (centered around Harkless) instead of other assets Neil would rather keep.

Who knows, but at the very least, seeing what the other three teams can (or more accurately cannot) offer only makes the Portland package look that much more attractive. Scott Perry isn't Kevin "Bitter" Pritchard. He will do everything possible to get the best package he can for his team, and he knows now, more than ever, that Portland can easily blow anything the others can offer completely out of the water.

I really think this is going to happen and it's going to happen soon. And when it does, I can't wait to hear the HOU fans cry and bitch about how little POR had to give up to get him (as if they ever even had a chance).

BNM

Some people are saying that Melo is just trying to see if there's any other options before opening it up to Portland. He knows as soon as he puts Portland on the list, the trade is done.
