You guys need to give @SlyPokerDog a break. He's allowed to miss things, as this past week/weekend he was dealing with something pretty significant.

I actually think Sly and several others are wonderful mods. I personally would not to be a mod because they are dealing with several people wanting to keep the drama going round and round.

As a viewer, I am laughing my ass off.

Melo is not a great player anymore, but these superteams are getting ridiculous. The way to build a contender in today's NBA... Clear a ton of salary.... Attract a top 4 player in the NBA via free agency.... then just soak up all the ring chasers..... There is no real way for small market teams to compete.
If he's not a great player anymore, how is it a super team?

My thoughts are that I wasn't even involved in that crap and apparently a post or multiple posts of mine were deleted.

I was told to let that go and I'm like fuck that. delete

Why am I being censored and what post of mine did you delete?

I still haven't gotten an answer @Strenuus and I'm not gonna just let it go.
If I broke a forum rule, I certainly wasn't informed. Should a post just be deleted without informing the poster?

Schröder was unhappy, had 3 years left on his contract, is still being investigated for battery, and can't shoot. The Hawks had obviously moved on from him by drafting Trae Young and trading for Jeremy Lin. Melo is an expiring contract so they take a slight hit this year, clear the books for future years, get a young wing on his rookie deal, and get a 1st round pick.
Are you sure that pick is worth anything at all? 2022 lottery protected. Seems like they pretty much took a hit to erase cap space for the following year. My thinking is the Thunder will most likely make the playoffs but if they don't that pick becomes 2 second rounders. Not even sure about the years on those because you can give up consecutive second round picks.

1st round picks are very valuable right now. Especially in the 2021 and 2022 drafts because 2021 is expected to be the first year of the one and done rule going bye-bye so it will be loaded. The 2022 draft is likely to have LeBron Jr in it. Stockpiling future picks and ridding salary is never a bad thing for a rebuilding team.

Ah geez you guys.... Actually started reading some of the posts over the last day on this thread.

This is why i don't do much S2 in the off season. Have a great summer and enjoy all you can.

I agree with ya there. But two second rounders over 3 years doesn't seem like a big win here.

I think you are a little confused. The pick was just icing to getting rid of future money. Usually teams have to attach a pick for others to take on a bad contract. The 2nd rounders are 2022 and 2023 if the 1st rounder doesn't convey. It's 4 years from now so it's kind of silly to project OKC's record but lets do it anyway:

OKC still has Westbrook and George and the pick is #24 in 2022, not bad.

George opts out the year before and OKC finishes just outside the playoffs with the 12th pick so it doesn't convey but that means Atlanta gets the 42nd pick and a 2nd rounder the following year, again not bad.

Isn't it too early to tell if LeBron Jr is good enough to make it in the NBA?

Nah, he's good. Plus you have the extra bonus of possibly getting an end of his career LeBron Sr playing with him.

Yes--I often edit or delete posts without informing people. More interested in reducing potentially inflammatory content than trying to inform posters about minor gray-area-type infractions that will likely just lead to more argument (when they're not part of a larger continuous pattern).

In this case, your deleted post was you telling someone that nobody cares what they think. Not egregious by any means, but as part of a larger argument in the thread, I understand why it would be included in the series of posts being deleted.

I don't and I think it's bullshit.

Telling someone you don't care what they think is the DEFINITION of attacking the post and not the poster.

I don't appreciate being censored for no reason...

It's bullshit plain and simple.

This thread needs to be closed, not moderated.

I disagree. Make it like an O/T. Put a warning stamp that it’s a free for all or something. I agree with no moderation though and maybe that is what is needed. A thread for people who want to fight can do so in that thread. Vent. Call people out insult, whatever. But only in that sticky thread and put a rated R sticky label on it.

Sorry @SlyPokerDog. I'm always fucking up.

Oh. I have a student of my craft?

So suggestion to mods.

I made a stupid post going over the top at @CupWizier once and it got deleted.
@BlazerDuckSeahawkFan94 sent me private messaged telling me he deleted it, explained why and I was totally cool with it. It avoided more conflict in the thread on two levels.

@Strenuus is a good guy. I’d say maybe just make it a bit more low key like explained above. :)

I disagree, simply because you weren't referencing a specific thing he said--which would be attacking the post--but you were saying NOBODY (not just you) cares what they think, which is essentially a commentary on him as a person.

I'm sorry that you disagree, but that doesn't absolutely negate the validity of the position.

I think it would be best to let the poster know you deleted it privately though. Without being informed that could also lead to gray areas that lead to assuming more than might actually be there.

Yeah, that's not happening.

It's bull. What he thinks is what he just posted.

And...

It's the SAME SHIT EVERY POST...

Nobody cares to hear it.

When I feel it appropriate, I do. More often than not, what I edit is something that people obviously know are personal attacks. We're adults here. We generally know when we behave inappropriately. We generally don't need to be informed.

Exactly. You delete my post, tell me why.

If your comment was, "nobody cares to hear your thoughts on Neil Olshey", which have obviously already been clearly elucidated, that'd be one thing. Your statement, however, was broad and completely undefined, encompassing everything he thinks, ergo, personal, and not a commentary on a post.

Again, I'm sorry you disagree, but that's the way I see it.

Which is EXACTLY why someone should've told me why my post was deleted. It wasn't over the top. It wasn't egregious.

So now, one of the more benign things to say, "nobody cares what you think" is over the top and requires deleting...

Jesus...

We call people whiners, cucks, and snowflakes in this forum without anyone batting an eye....

We are all adults but we are also all human and individual and what one person sees, maybe another doesn’t. This has nothing to do with good bad, better or worse, but could possibly be due to simple ethnic or childhood raising differences that lead to different views and opinions on the definition of a personal insult.
Someone’s upbringing could dictate their threshold on this.

I would think for the benefit of the doubt, if a post or multiple posts are deleted, at least a quick message, “hey I deleted your post, just trying to keep some peace,” would also help to alleviate further complications?

I know it may be more time consuming, but hey, I didn’t sign up to be a mod. :)
I have mad respect for all of you and i think you all know that. Just offering up suggestions that I think might help you defuse flames on more than one level.

@Carmelo Anthony is a member here, so I'm going to have to delete this post.

But I'm not going to tell you why.

Why do you think he's talking about @Carmelo Anthony ?
He didn't tag him, nor did he use his name.
Melo could be an abbreviation for Melon as well as many other things.
This is another poor modding choice. Just like Sly's was to publicly show I had two posts deleted by Stren, when it was actually only one. Because I made the decision to word it differently(aka delete myself) in order to stay within the rules of the forum.
