Please stop perpetuating this myth. It simply is not true.
First, the sample size is ridiculously small. Second, most of the games were against weak competition and C.J. was balling out of his mind. Third, he was starting at SG. Start him at SF with C.J. at SG and Dame at PG and we will get absolutely eviscerated by pretty much every team in the Western Conference, certainly in our division. That would easily be the worst defensive trio of starters in the league.
And finally, the stats:
Crabbe as a starter: 32.9 MPG, 10.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, .375 FG%, .346 3FG%, .500 TS%
Crabbe off the bench: 28.1 MPG, 10.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 1.1 APG, .479 FG%, .453 3FG%, .614 TS%
Those are HORRIBLE numbers for a starter. Just look at the difference in his shooting percentages starting vs. coming off the bench. And, given the fact that Crabbe is completely incapable of creating shots for himself, that's EXACTLY what you would expect. He struggles to score, the one and only thing he's paid $19 million a year to do, against other starters. And, he can't guard them either.
Starting Allen Crabbe is a horrible, horrible idea - if you're goal is to win enough games to make the playoffs. Starting Allen Crabbe next to Dame and C.J. only makes sense if you decide to go into full on tank mode on opening night. Harkless is basically an average starting SF, but that makes him a way, WAY, WAY better starting SF than Allen Crabbe.
