I don't know--the only way he can be described these days is as a low-efficiency ball-dominant scorer. Seems like a bad fit on a team with Harden and Paul, two guys who are at their best controlling the ball. Should any team really rather have the ball in Melo's hands to let him try to create a contested mid-range jumper instead of in Harden's or Paul's hands? He's a worse shooter than Ryan Anderson by a lot and no better a defender. I think they're better off with Anderson, personally.

But I CAN hold the fact that he thought LA was worth a MAX contract over his head. Either way you cut it, he FUCKED UP. And besides, that was just one of his many fuck ups.

This is the role 'Melo played on the Olympic team - and he was great at it.

Houston will have pretty good starting 5. But there bench beside Gordon and Nene there bench is really weak. They might not as good as they were last year . I don't care if they have Anderson or Melo. Remember when was last time Melo or Anderson and even Paul that hadn't been injured. If one or 2 of these guys go down there screw.

But what do you expect him to do as "Olympic Melo" that Ryan Anderson can't do better? Anderson can space the floor extremely well, better than Anthony can. I suppose Anthony could back cut better than Anderson, but I don't think that's worth as much as spacing when you have two guys who like to attack the basket to collapse the defense.

The Blazers have 2 guys that can attack the rim and collapse the defense as well. Their offense problems against most teams often happen when the 2 are not on the court at the same time - and the offense grinds to a halt. With a 3rd guy that can handle the ball and attack the rim - the Rockets will have 2 guys like that at all times.

Add the fact that against good defensive teams that can corral 2 great attackers (like GSW) - Portland's offense usually grids to a halt when the ball is left to someone like Chief or Mo to attack the rim off the dribble - this, to a point is why Turner was brought in last year. I would think of Melo as being the super-duper Turner with a better outside shot when he is on the court with CP3 and Harden and as a guy that can facilitate and attack the rim when he plays with only 1 of the 2.

I am willing to bet that Melo's long-ball percentages will be up when he is the beneficiary of catch and shoot with the defense collapsing on the other 2. I still think that this is the exact kind of role where he will thrive.
