Love still owns a home in LO? Wow. Didn't know that. I thought he took the Danny Ainge "Get The Hell Out Of His Home State" Tour.
I hear it's on the lake.

CJ is strongly defending Carmelo on his podcast. Saying the rock ets are using him as a scape goat.

What's with all this talk about his new team? He hasn't even been waived yet.

Maybe the Rockets are trying to trade him.

He can’t be traded right now. I think the more likely scenario is they’re allowing him to find a new team before they cut him, and that probably includes that respective team making other move(s) to create room.

Exactly.

20 mpg. ~ 10 shots a game. Hoping for 10-15 ppg and a viable contributor to help Dame/CJ get spacing or rest. It's not much at all.

If you do a quick risk analysis, it’s really not that big of a leap.

Upside:

Makes a good bench even better. Gives them a consistent post scorer aka more easy buckets instead of relying on threes. Has been extremely efficient in post situations but his last two coaches never valued them.

Gives the team a legit third scorer late in games. Just his presence would change how teams defend Portland now/in the playoffs.

Good teammate. Seriously, good luck trying to find something legit that suggests otherwise.

A vet. Can blame his teams lack of playoff success on him all you want, he’s still made it to the conference finals, something no one on Portland has accomplished.

Downside:

We lose Wade Baldwin.

We add to the luxury tax.

That’s literally it. If the experiment fails, we cut him and end up right back where we were before. And since it’s pretty clear that all three leaders in the locker room are pro Melo, resentment should not be an issue, at least not amongst the players.

Looking at the depth chart of the teams mentioned, I think the Pelicans is a good option for him. But based on the style of play I think the Blazers are an even better option. We don't run. Any team interested in getting up and down the court in a hurry is not an ideal situation for Melo. Which should totally take the Lakers out of the equation. They make no sense at all for him.

The bigger question of course is do we really want him?
This Blazers team is so tight. If we brought someone like Carmelo in I don't think it would disrupt the team at all. If it didn't work out we waive him.

Melo is a cancer and would undoubtedly make our team worse, as his league worst -1.1 VORP in 2017-18 indicates. He would instantaneously suck the life right out of our locker room and submarine us to 9th or 10th in the West over night.. He's a bad guy, a primadonna, a coach killer, a chucker, likes lame hoodies, he lacks any self awareness, he throws sissy sucker punches and backpedals, and perhaps worst of all.....Stephen A. Smith is a huge fan of him.

Even in his "prime" his teammates couldn't stand him

If Neil signs him then he loses any shred of credibility that he has left.

Hey--insult my game all you want, but leave my damn hoodies out of this! That's over the line, fams.

If Dame, ET and CJ want him I say bring him in!

That is vital for sure. And I would tend to agree with it. But didn't Westbrook, CP3 and Harden want him at first too?
I guess the only causality if we cut him is who we gave up to get him?

Looking at the ESPN NBA trade machine, could we just trade Baldwin for Melo straight up after December 15th, if Houston doesn't waive him by then.

Listening to CJ's pod, he's citing MIA/LA/NOP as potential destinations for Melo. Not even hinting at Portland.
