Still one of the funniest moments in FA that I can remember. Then they ‘probably’ tried it next year with Durant and failed again. I still picture KD walking down the hall and a poor quality paper version of his face is taped over Melos. It was almost laughable how much the rockets swung out on almost every big FA they went for.

Hard to say I’m surprised Westbrook went for it! The stack of paper could have been 10 deep and he’d still probably be like “yeah man, give me the ball and I’ll show James why we were winning in OKC”

They’ve come a long way since not being able to attract people. Got some talented players in recent years, still can’t put together a cohesive squad though. Can’t wait to watch the Westbrook/Harden story. Don’t think Westbrook is down to play hard enough defense to make up for Harden AND defer shots/possessions to him as well. Classic story of thinking you can put any star players together to be good. There always has to be a balance and complimentary skills!

Melo could've joined our culture two years ago and finished off his career in style but he would't drop his No Trade clause to play for us even though Neil, Dame, and CJ all wanted him. He fucked up. Now, we don't need him but I think he would've played well for us if he had chosen to.

How have the Lakers not signed Lebron's besty

Shit, Neil better not sign him to our last spot

Who would help our team win more games next season playing 20 minutes a game off the bench? Tolliver or Melo? They roughly play the same style and position. You know my answer FAMS.
Same style? What games you been watching, FAMS?!! Tolliver is a vastly better 3-point shooter, and has never been a ball-stopper like Melo. I don't think Melo would work on this team

Melo would not be happy with coming off the bench, causing many more problems than he would solve. Why do you think Houston, would got him for peanuts, didn't want him?

I don't get the obsession with Melo. Or why Dame cares if he gets a "farewell" tour. The guy has the same amount of rings I do. I don't think Dame should get a farewell tour unless he wins some rings either. Denver / NY fans can love Melo if they want too, but his lasting impression on the NBA really doesn't deserve it. He's just a good scorer that never won, been a lot of much better players who never got a farewell tour.

You sir are wrong in using "rings" as a way to judge. I could go on and on about players who DO have rings and who DOESN’T. The Mailman has as many rings as you do as well..... and Adams Morrison has more.

Sure but Malone never got a farewell tour either. Its not about judging based off of rings. Its about that that type of recognition should be saved for greats of the great. Like Kobe, deserved it. LBJ will deserve it, Steph will deserve it. Duncan if he wanted too wouldve deserved it too.

He has more gold medals than you and he will be in the Hall of Fame. Not every great player wins a championship.

Yeah well, Carmelo is hardly a great player. He's 19th all-time in scoring which was the only thing he ever did reasonably well. How many "great" players w/o health problems can't even find teams who want them in their early 30's.
No one is saying he sucks, but he doesn't deserve a farewell tour, he hardly deserves being in the HOF. Much better players never got a farewell tour.

He rebounded reasonably well and in his glory days, he was a decent defender. Also forgot to mention his NCAA championship. He’s one of the best to ever play the game.

AI vs Melo

Who do you take?

PS - The answer, is the answer... Forget the question!

Top what? 50? He had one year he averaged over 8 rebounds per game (at 8.1) and 4 total he was over 7, so no not terrible, but not exactly elite either. He had one year in his entire career he averaged over four assists, Kobe the guy everyone calls a chucker averaged more than 4 assists all but 4 years of his career. I mean again, Carmelo in his prime was a very good scorer, and heck maybe even today could be I don't know. He's not AI who was a cultural phenom, he's not like Malone or Stockton, or a plethora of other guys who kept getting close to winning a ring and just never could (he was never that close). I'll give you that he had a good career, but worthy of running around doing a farewell tour? Not in my book. Like I said I think that "honor" is for the greatest of the greats, and again Carmelo did not have major injury problems and in his early 30's (now he's in his mid 30's) was basically chased out of the league, even Chris Paul who is only one year younger was able to at the same age get a gigantic contract.

So yeah I'll give you he had a good career, he was an elite scorer for 5-6 years, but it's my opinion which matters just as much as yours does (which is very little to the NBA world lol), I don't think he deserves to go on a farewell tour, I mean if you aren't a NYK fan or maybe a Denver fan, does the rest of the NBA fan bases really care that much it's not like he had some lasting mark on the entire league.

Red Buttons? Is that you?
