This just keeps getting funnier and funnier. First we had Kellyanne Conway claim there are facts and alternative facts and now we have Rudy G, proclaim the the truth isn't the truth. Do these people have an IQ above 50?

Let's hear our resident Trump supporters spin this.

"Todd, visibly perplexed, interrupted: “Truth is truth.” But Giuliani frantically fired back, prompting laughter from Todd.

″No it isn’t! Truth isn’t truth!” Giuliani responded. “The president of the United States says, ‘I didn’t ―’”

“Mr. Mayor, do you realize... this is going to become a bad meme,” Todd interrupted."

Doesn't want Trump questioned because he WILL end up commiting perjury blabbing his mouth because his ego is far bigger than his intelligence.

He'll probably blab some stuff about crimes that Mueller doesn't even yet know about. He's such a fool.

If you are telling the truth, how can you get caught in a perjury trap? Seems to me that as long as you are telling the truth, you can't. So what are they worried about? :smiley-hmm:

Lawyers are expert liars if it means winning a case....they'll defend anyone who can pony up the big bucks....RG is flailing around trying to remain relevant when he's clearly just interested in keeping his face in the news

I’m far from a Trump supporter, but I think Rudy’s getting shafted here. It looks to me like he was about to point out an example of how someone can say something that is true, but still get nailed by it because it doesn’t tell the full story or because it’s taken out of context. Kind of like what’s happening with this statement.

Nobody has made Rudy shut up yet...he's been on a media frenzy for months...he's also stretched the truth quite a bit from what I've heard him say...fact check him and it's pretty clear he's a spin doctor

It was a stupid and ridiculous statement. We now have alternative facts and alternative truths. Just as stupid as his comment that Mueller is setting Trump up with a perjury trap by interviewing him. Tell the truth (the real truth) and there is no case for perjury.

It's the rest of the interview that was interesting.

Did I say he wasn't a spin doctor? Of course he is, he's a politician. I'm just pointing out that the interviewer clearly cut him off before he made whatever point he was going to make.

I didn't see it that way....I saw an interviewer call him out for a double standard that was clearly a double standard...but I'm a guy who believes truth is truth as well. Rudy is spinning the reasonable doubt line. Lawyers call guilty people innocent to win....it's in their DNA

Quite often if you cut someone off before they finish making the point they were going to make, you can leave them looking stupid.

If you don't believe that the truth isn't always the truth, just refer to Bill Clinton's comments about not having sex with "that woman".

and that wasn't the truth was it? It was the truth if sex meant intercourse. It wasn't the truth if he had any other type of sexual encounter. You're trying way to hard to spin a stupid statement.

Bill Clinton didn't win that argument though....and in the end it hurt his cause...Rudy is no victim here...he plays the game, just got stumped with his own playbook

...Bill Clinton?...don't forget about this sphincter tightening comment;

LOL, you just shot yourself in the foot with your post. The statement is the "truth" if you narrowly define "sex" as intercourse, as Bill Clinton did. It was a flagrant lie by normal understanding of having sex.

Rudy's follow-up point was different than my point, however. He noted that if Comey and Trump have differing accounts of what happened, you don't necessarily know what the truth is. I think that's a bit of a cop-out. The point of investigating is to find additional evidence that points to the truth of what happened.

Bill Clinton and Donald Trump have more in common than people think....but Clinton was found guilty ...Trump's locker room talk and porn star porkin' have been conveniently buried for big business interests from what I've seen....nobody should bash Clinton and let Trump off the hook for moral standards or being a liar.

...if for example Comey testifies to one thing and Trump were to testify to the complete opposite, that alone is not perjury because it's one person's word vs the other's and thus, is not factual. But if either's testimony can be corroborated with additional concrete evidence, that's a different story.

No disagreement on that point by me. I can't wait for Donny boy to leave office...sooner rather than later is preferable to me.

and how did I "shoot myself in the foot?" You repeated basically what I said. Truth is based on evidence, not opinions. Clinton was trying to use a grey area but in the end, was found to have lied.
