Warren brought down the house at LGBTQ forum when asked, suppose someone says to you "I'm traditional and my religion says marriage is between one man and one woman". Her reply is she'll assume questioner is a guy and if he thinks marriage is between one man and one woman, great, marry one woman, she's fine with that ... if you can find one.
It really isnt that hard for a politician to go into a setting like this and talk to a group of people and say things that they like though. Trump does it all the time at his rally’s and its been done by probably every politician thats ever gotten anywhere. The real trick will be can her and others say stuff to a broader audience that brings them in to vote for them.

Edit: Its akin to the “preaching to the choir”, saying.

Though, honestly Im not sure it matters, I think there is a good chance that whoever wins the Democratic Nomination will win as more of a vote against Trump then a vote for them.

That is assuming that the Democrats cant get support to Impeach before the election. Maybe they can and that’d be nice!

That was the perfect comeback as she did it with class and got her message across. trump would have bumbled through it and would have made so nasty remark regarding the LGBTQ

I haven't "heard" what she said, just read it and I think reading it in my head I didn't like the way she ended it. In my mind it seemed to be implying that only men would ask that question or feel that way, and that would probably find it hard to find someone to have a relationship with... However, if I can find it to listen too maybe inflection and the way she said it, wasn't implying that at all. I don't know. In general, though, what she said is how I feel about the subject. When it was to vote on Gay Marriage in Oregon I was in support of that which really pissed off the more traditional people in my family (oddly enough mostly women), but I feel like this is a country that proclaims all people should be treated equally, all lifestyles and religions and if they want to get married at least in the way that the government defines marriage then they should be able to do that and afforded the same rights as everyone else. If a religion says that in order to be married by THEM then they're free to do so IMO, but the government should not be telling people what kind of lifestyles they should have in terms of their personal decisions.

So that definitely kind of reinforced my original thoughts on it. Alas, it's not a big deal though. Like I said above I mostly agree with her take on it. I just don't know why she feels she needs to be snide about it.

snide? It was spot on. What she was saying is, if the man's beliefs from his church say a man should only marry a woman then that man should only marry one woman. The little comment at the end was said mainly in jest as it wasn't directed at any one person.

fair enough, the way my brain took that was a bit of, "oh you probably can't find one", but like I said it wasn't a big deal. I basically agree with her.

and maybe you're just making up a bunch of bullshit like you so often do. Show me proof or fuck off.
I know for a fact that it is bullshit. Yes, I'm a direct witness.
He's gonna have to eat crow over this one..

For those who think the Senator was too snarky at LGBTQ event, all due respect, you are not gay. You have never had someone who doesn't know you from a hole in the wall say your 10, 20, 30 year relationship is invalid. Maybe a politician married three times who bragged about extramarital affairs and sexually transmitted diseases. Or a pundit who has had four wives but no children and who pretends not to know how birth control works so he can slut-shame a birth control activist. Or an anorexic hate spewer who says marriage equality offends her as a Christian, while she has had a series of affairs with married men. Or a town clerk on her fourth marriage hailed as a Christian martyr for breaking the law.

You have never had a man tell you his dick would turn you straight.

Personally I think she was too nice.

We need a hilarious president for sure.

A little comedy would indeed be better than the current tragedy, but I'm not sure that's the answer either.

Seriously, I'm not quite certain how comedy would equate to politics in these globally volatile times. Hmmmm....we could always resurrect Chevy Chase.

Warren did manage a double punch line.

And you think it wasn’t a setup question? As I understand it, it was a hypothetical question read by a questioner from the LGBQT community. I mean, more power to her for making her point with a memorable line, even if it was a setup, but I don’t think she’s ever going to do standup.

But heres the thing eventually when we decide we want hate and bigotry of all flavors to stop it means we all have to stop it. Maybe that time hasnt come yet as I know there are still issues but eventually we need to stop with the barbs and war of words, we need a president whose going to attempt to bring unity to us (maybe thats EW but snark isnt the place to start that is it?).
I absolutely understand that Christians (and others), and people using religions as a shield have been horrible to homosexuals and havent afforded them the love and respect they deserve and like I said, her snark wasnt a big deal, I just commented that I did notice it.

I wish that Christians would take their own book to heart and treat people well, and love them.

In terms of being too nice? Can one really be too nice? Id certainly rather too nice as a president than whatever the heck we have now...

Edit: I want to say also not that it matters but I am sorry to anyone in here who was bullied because of their sexuality, and that I really do understand that stuff really sucks. Its not that I want to paint or gloss over the history that religion or this country has had towards the LGBTQ group. I also understand that after what must have felt like a life long war on you, that some barbs and snark is so much less then what youve endured. So to that end those who find ourselves on the other-side need to learn to be ok with it.

Fine. Go tell people putting antigay initiatives on ballots, and firing LGBTQ people from jobs, and assaulting members of my community to be nice.

Geez lady! Perhaps you need another channel. The world is not so hard unless it is the goal.

we need a president whose going to attempt to bring unity to us

>>> I gather from reading your posts over the time you have been here, that you are a well reasoned young fellow of sound mind. I am sure you know, that our system of electing the President does provide for the electorate to select the best candidate for the position that reflects the mood and temperament of the electorate at the time. Any one person can not deem what we need. Nor is unity necessarily the goal. As you might already know, democracy has one great flaw, it does allow every fool to vote.
Unity can be on this, or that side of the fool line. During my time here, unity has never been so blatantly expressed on the fools side as apposed to the choice of the states electorate.

I wish that Christians would take their own book to heart and treat people well, and love them.
>>> I like to think most try as best they can to do as Jesus taught to correct the guidance of the Jews.

Id certainly rather too nice as a president than whatever the heck we have now...
>>> What we have now is very undervalued. Especially when one remembers, he is the elected President, the best of 23 available offered up for our choosing.

Uhm, I think your first line has some real relevance to the second.

Perhaps. Would you like me to make another post for you to exercise your desecration?

It was a scripted skit, performed by one of her donors, likely even practiced beforehand.

She is simply not believable as a person.

Are you saying you want Al Franken to run?
