What about??????????????

Chandler with the big TPE, Oubre with the small TPE, Denver sends a 2019 1st to Washington instead of us, we send a future 2nd to Denver.

Starters: Dame, CJ, Hark, Collins, Nurk
Bench: Baldwin, Oubre, Chandler, Aminu, Davis
Deep Bench: Simons, Trent, Turner, Swanigan, Leonard
You're including a pick with the tpe

Olshey now seems to be saying he will need to be sending players from the roster along with the TPE to get an "impact player". The only ones that would have value would be Aminu and Harkless, right? We're not trading Collins are we?

No because we will only trade trash and want gold back in return.

I’m still missing why Oubre would be available for only the TPE. Or is the thought to add a protected first.

Wizards fans/bloggers think Oubre will be packaged with Gortat.

How about our TPEs for both? I’d do it.
YES! THIS!

That would make re-signing Davis almost impossible but Gortat can have that role and also be used as an expiring trade contract at the deadline. It's basically a way to extend the TPE to February, plus we could package him with other players in two months unlike the TPE. I would feel pretty comfortable with Oubre and Harkless as our SF rotation.

I’d rather re-sign ed and bury Gortat on the bench or just buy him out.

Unfortunately, I just don't see any scenario where we improve the team while signing Ed.

Silly question--with everyone talking about Oubre, why not Tomas Satoransky? He's listed as a SG, but at 6'7" 210, he's plenty big enough to play 3. Seems like his shooting and efficiency numbers are far better than Oubre's. If Oubre's highly desirable because of his upside, shouldn't Satoransky be similarly so because of his actual production?

For me at least, I feel like Oubre has flashes where he has decent starter ability and is more competent defensively. Getting him would be hoping he pops and realizes his talent. I wouldn't mind Satoransky but he seems like more of a role player on a good team with not a huge ceiling in terms of getting better than he already is. His better shooting numbers are on a lot less attempts per game too.

I just don't think that is feasible given the tax implications. Basically it would come down to if you want Oubre enough to warrant letting Davis go for Gortat.

This is the cost of the route the team has seemingly chosen to go down. And if they’re not ok being heavily in the tax for a season or two, and they don’t want to give up CJ or Zach, then what are they doing?

Surprised at how bad Oubre's shooting stats are. I just remember his game this year against us......6-9 (2-3) and 5 steals. He looked real good.

I am not saying they won't pay the tax, they will and it will be significant. What I am saying is that if they use the TPE on a big man like Faried or Gortat (because it came with something else good too) then having their contract on the books and also re-signing Davis seems unlikely. Especially if the guy they bring in is a somewhat capable big. If they brought in Courtney Lee with the TPE then yeah I could see Davis being signed to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Yeah, I don't watch enough Wizards games to know what is going on for sure. He seems to have a lot of the tools necessary to be a good player but hasn't put it all together yet.

But those two guys would only be on the books for one season. What happens after that? It’d make more sense to bite the bullet.

Satoransky is an ET who can shoot. Would be a solid pickup for the Vonleh TPE.

I wonder if Oubres contract situation would impact Portland’s decision to pursue him or not. I don’t think they want to commit to more players beyond the 19/20 season but then again Oubre is young, and they wouldn’t HAVE to pay him if they didn’t want to.

I think one of Lee, Chandler, and Oubre will end up in Portland sometime before FA starts.

Lee for TPE straight up.

Chandler/pick for TPE.

Gortat/Oubre for our two TPEs.

Even the 29 win Knicks think he is too small to play small forward and you want to pair him with undersized McLillard

Not really. He’d be paired with one of them with the second unit. And while he shouldn’t start at SF there are still certain lineups where you could play all three together.

I just don’t think Lee puts us ahead of even the Pelicans... waste of TPE... and he is 33 so his game will start to decline

Funny you bring up the pelicans. They run a lot of three guard lineups that Lee could’ve helped out against, on both ends. Houston is another when they run Gordon with CP3 and Harden. Lee would be a significant upgrade, despite his age or his bench status.

I like Gortat... the Polish Hammer! If Nurk is planning on taking QO in hopes of a 20 mil payday I’d just let him walk and have Gortat be a stop gap til Collins takes over

God no. Collins is a PF. Olshey has only compared him to power forwards.

And the Nurk stuff is just a national writers guess. Nurk wants to be in Portland. No one is giving him 20m, his agent should know that. Something should get done.

Gortat would come here to be a backup, buried on the bench, or get bought out. That deal would be about Oubre.

I heard oubre want's a Max Contract next Year, so Maybe Washington Shopping him
