We would still have Hart, Sharpe, GP2, and Keon conceivably. Guard is not a problem.

Dame/one of the above guards/OG/Grant/Nurk is MUCH better than what we have now.

Hart is probably getting traded, and GP2 and Keon can't create for themselves, nor provide the kind of shooting that Simons does. And Sharpe hasn't shown he can create for himself.

Unless it's for an obvious upgrade for a forward in his prime, trading Ant just cuz he reminds you of CJ is foolish in my mind.

He's 23 and has shown elite scoring potential and continually keeps improving. Chauncey also loves him. Doesn't make sense to trade him just to trade him

Why dont people see this? Having Ant on the other wing with his scoring ability ready to create while Dame gets double teamed is an asset. And his passing has shown marked improvement over the past month or so after curbing his turnovers.

I don't think anyone is advocating dumping Ant for nothing. Everyone wants more size and players that complement Dame... so yeah a forward in his prime or entering it who makes the team better than they are right now with Ant would make a lot of sense. Ant in a package for a legit star would make a lot of sense.

Indeed. CJ was a major player on a team that went to the WCF. CJ had a 50 points in 29 minutes game for us. Simons hasn’t shown to be at that level. CJ got us to 3 seed twice. Simons has us at sub 500.

This is ridiculous. CJ did not get Portland to the 3 seed twice. The 1st time they got the 3 seed, they got swept by the 6th seed in the 1st rd. If you're giving him the praise for that season, does he get the blame for that collapse then? CJ was a teammate of Damian Lillard. At Simons' age, CJ McCollum was averaging 7ppg and 1apg. Simons' doesn't have this team anywhere. This is Dame's team. The current roster is sitting just below .500. That's like saying CJ had Portland sitting at 21-33 last year. Is that a fair assessment?

Isn't that we're saying though? I'm not saying trade him for the sake of trading him. I'm saying he's our best asset to trade and I don't think he and Dame are a winning combo.

And that has us stuck in this conundrum we’re in. Do anything we can to get a team around him to win a championship, or build toward the future.

Don't tell that @julius guy that! #BAM

Ha! They have a good team, they just can't stay healthy to save their lives. I don't want them getting OG or Wembanyama via the Lakers pick in June. No thank you.

A team that can't stay healthy, acquiring either of two guys unlikely to stay healthy, doesn't sound particularly scary.

Bidding war for OG?

OG is great.

But he's not the kinda star the NBA media seems to think of him as. I read somewhere that Masai is seeking a package similar to what CLE gave up for Mitchell. I'm baffled at that thought

The thing is that there are probably a couple of teams that loaded up on draft picks that will end up overpaying for someone.

I wouldn’t trade him just to trade him. I would trade him for an upgrade at forward. The Dame/Ant pairing can’t defend. Keeping Hart or acquiring another big guard to start alongside Dame is necessary if we want to win now. We should probably keep Simons and tank though. A top 5 pick could have us ready to contend in 2024-25

Define "upgrade". Someone slightly better than Hart? or someone who can make us a contender?

Good question. In my mind, upgrade is a player who is at or above the level of a Jerami Grant. Those kinda players might not be available til the offseason, so i want us to be careful

I find it hard to believe that Utah would trade us Vanderbilt. But maybe Danny does not despise us as much as their previous front-office executives.
I wonder what they want?

Shams links us to Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt would be an interesting addition that could help the size issue a lot

one problem I see is matching his contract. Winslow would match but I don't see any reason why Utah would cooperate with that, and I have a hard time believing Seattle would agree to go into the tax for Vanderbilt.

the biggest problem might be Ainge vs Cronin....looks like a mismatch on paper

Depends on what Utah's goal is. If they are trying to cut salary, Winslow is a FA after this season and Vanderbilt isn't. So if they want to clear space, it might work. Just depends on what they are wanting.

I guess it depends on what Utah thinks they need. My guess is an ending contract and a draft pick. They have enough role players. If they didn't, they would keep Vanderbilt. (at least I would)

Every time I see Jody at a home game she looks as frustrated as the rest of the fans. And she is the only "Seattle" that matters. If she never went to the games I would be more concerned. But my gut feeling is that they are listening but will want too much (In terms of draft picks)
