Josh Hart
If the Portland Trail Blazers really do have interest in Jae Crowder, the Suns should keep them in mind as a last resort trade partner. Recent trade buzz indicates they’re not looking to move Hart, but as underwhelming as that kind of return would be, he could help, at least.

Hart is a solid defender and an inconsistent 3-point shooter, but he’s still chipping in 9.3 points and an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game this season, all while shooting 50.2 percent from the field.

The only problem is Hart’s $13 million salary is just a smidge too high for a straight-up Crowder swap. At that point, including one of Okogie, Landale or Lee isn’t worth it.

Jerami Grant
It’d be fairly surprising if the Portland Trail Blazers dealt Grant in the middle of a borderline All-Star season, full stop. But with the 28-year-old week eligible for a contract extension before the trade deadline and Rip City sitting two games below .500, maybe it’s not as implausible as it seems?

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst agrees, speculating: “Keep an eye on Jerami Grant in Portland. If he doesn’t sign an extension by deadline week, teams are going to sniff there.”

Assuming he doesn’t get that extension, let’s go ahead and sniff there:

Trading Grant away for a cap relief package like this, rather than just extending him or re-signing him this summer, would send a bad message to Damian Lillard. Then again, is ownership willing to dive deep into the luxury tax with the kind of extension he’ll want, especially to retain the core of a team that’s not even currently occupying a play-in spot?

As we covered in Part 1, the Blazers are interested in Jae Crowder for some reason. Give them some expiring salaries and two first-round picks, and suddenly the Suns are even more dangerous on both ends of the court.

Grant has frequently been mentioned here as a sensible Suns trade target, and that’s especially true now that he’s averaging 21.3 points per game on .488/.422/.797 shooting splits. His struggles with creating as the No. 1 option on the Detroit Pistons make him a lethal No. 3 or No. 4 guy, which is what he’d be again in Phoenix.

Does he want to return to that sort of role? That’s open for debate, but there’s no question that winning is fun. This would require Cam Johnson to slide back into a bench role, but a six-man core of CP3, Book, Bridges, Grant, Ayton and Johnson would really batten down the hatches for a deep playoff run.

I agree. I'd rather the team get a guy 6'9"(ish) who is a defensive stalwart (https://www.dictionary.com/ on the ready for @THE HCP ) instead of another guy who is like a sieve on defense (again, https://www.dictionary.com/ on the ready for @THE HCP )
He might not be a defensive stalwart, but Collins is actually a better defender than Grant. He’s posting a better raptor rating on the defensive side than Grant the last 4 season now. I would trade Grant for Collins and a couple picks. Don’t forget that Collins is miles better than Grant at rebounding. Collins can go back to 20/10 on this team. And he will end up being on a cheaper contract once we overpay grant

Yeah, Isaac won't command too much after missing two years with an ACL injury.
I actually love Isaac's game (this is like "loving Greg Oden's game") but I would have a hard time rooting for him. Let's just say his views fit a team owned by the DeVoses much more than they fit a team based in Portland.

Why would they give up that much for Simons? Both Suggs & Issa are as talented a Simons.
Suggs is a bust, and Isaacs has been injured more often than not. I hate this trade idea.

I think the Magic see Suggs as a bust so what I would actually like is to trade Josh and Justise to the Heat. If it were easier the Heat could send Duncan Robinson and their 2023 FRP without protection and there 2027 FRP with like a top 10 protection to us. That's if it wasn't easy to do a three team deal but the two picks and Robinson would eventually go to Orlando for Bamba and Suggs.

I only like this deal if we're able to get an all star wing and backup big for Ant, Nurk and all of the future draft considerations that make sense after we guarantee our 2023 pick to Chicago. I really do think that we could get Siakam and Koloko for Ant, Nurk and our FRPs in 2025, '27 and '29 along with swaps in '24, '26 and '28... I would want top 4 protections on all of them except maybe 2025.

You end up with a rotation of Dame, Shae, Grant, Siakam, Bamba, GP2, Nas and whoever wins minutes. I think that would probably be Suggs and Koloko but maybe it's Keon and Drewbanks or Jabari. Anyway, I think we would have one of the best starting units in the game, that actually fits with what our head coach is trying to do and more size off the bench.

yeah he has struggled early in his career, and with injuries. Same with Isaacs.
I think both will pan out to be very good players and Suggs is a good defender even now at 21.

I hope they keep Hart and work something out for next year.

The Blazers are going to have to seriously win some trades if we're going to be relevant in Dame's era. Barring a superstar forcing his way onto your team, buying low on high-potential players in bad organizations is one of the only ways to really do that. Suggs and Isaac are (or were, anyway) certainly high-potential players. You'd hope that bringing them into a better environment would change their mindset and aid in their development.

I guess the flip side is, we're not winning WITH Hart, so it's not like losing this trade if they are busts, really does any significant damage to the franchise...

I would guarantee that Jerami is now in concussion protocol.

Do you think Ant has negative value? I think there have to be quite a few GMs that would give us value back for him.

Shocked at how many people want to trade a 22 year stud 3pt shooter. Has he struggled at times of course first full year starting and still learning PG. again this league is a shooters league and you need shooters around Dame

Ant for OG would balance this bizarrely constructed roster out.
Ant for OG would be perfect but I don't think Masai has Ant at the same value of OG, let alone OG plus whatever guy it would take to make the trade work financially.

Not sure how you can be shocked at that. This place is impatient minute to minute, and loves shiny objects.

I think there's a lot of context missing there

most people I see suggesting an Ant trade are wanting a good return, not wanting Ant traded for the sake of a trade

I've seen a lot of shit returns, and not many other than OG seeming like good returns. Seems like a lot here have an extremely low view, and low returns, on Ant. I highly doubt the league views him that way.

Trade him before he becomes untradable for 8 years cause a GM is too fucking stupid.

Yes, I realize that I'm having flashbacks.

We NEED to make a trade.

I can't emphasize that enough.

We HAVE to make a trade. Dame is playing out of his mind right now. We need to take advantage of this. We can't limp into the playoffs or miss it entirely. We need to do whatever the fuck is required to put a team around Dame.

Thing is, trading Ant only changes the hole in the starting 5 to a different position.

Yea, I'm shocked really, the kid is far away from his potential, still learning the ropes as a full time starter, and guys just want to get rid of him for some of the trades mentioned here is a head scratcher. But yet again this place seems to be getting worse, the bad apples are always trying to give their negative opinion and people love to engage with the negative views so to speak, and it's runs away the good posters imo.

have you seen the trades people are ok with for Simons? Not one I have seen would have been happy with, and that includes OG.

OG is injure prone, hasn't played past 50 games in the last two seasons, is injured again now, and his stats aren't even that great.

“We have to make a trade….. we have to make a trade”

I swore it was just, “We have to fire Stotts…. We have to fire Stotts!” “ Anything is better than him”
This place bro…
It's more or less the same people, don't you notice :)
