Part of me wonders if Orlando actually preferred Hood+Collins+Trent for Gordon and the deal fell apart because Olshey couldn't figure out a way to go under the tax after making that deal....

Because looking at the haul they got.....it's pretty bad.

Markkanen is still available and and the Bulls now could use a SF right?

You guys have no idea how good Norman Powell is.

He's basically a better Trent. He doesn't rebound, but he also plays defense, and scores the shit out of the ball.

Only problem is he's an UFA at the end of the season.

Can we extend him now?

A shooting guard who shoots nearly 50% while shooting enough to score almost 20 ppg.

I hate to see Trent leaving, but this makes the Blazers better.

That wasn't the point. The need is so much more in the front court than in the backcourt. Sure he has wingspan (which I love) but he is still small and if he has to guard legit SF's and inevitably, switch onto 4's and 5's because we switch everything, he will be at a distinct disadvantage.

He does some things I really like....but the need is much more so in the front court.

Maybe (hopefully) that gets addressed in the buyout market. But as of now, the only thing we are a favorite for is the 6'3" and under YMCA League Championship.

It is kind of the point because you continue to say 6'3" as if that is a factor. Who cares where the top of his head is. It is more about his length and his strength when it comes to defending bigger players.

Sure he will have a problem covering LeBron and Leonard, everyone does. But you still have RoCo and Jones who can help, although Powell is actually bigger than both at 215. Plus Chris Paul is not too small to cover bigger guards even at 6' 175. He can because he is a good defensive player. I think Powell is a better defender than both Trent and Hood, so that does fill a need as well.

But I agree we could still use another PF defender who can shoot and rebound.

CJ is not getting traded.

Probably have to wait for buyouts

thing with buyout guys is you’re competing against all the other playoff teams. So Olshey better be sure he can land someone, otherwise he’s gonna have to waste that spot on a bum.

Under an hour left...

I would like to see Zach Collins moved cause he gets injured like it's cool -- i call Collins - Bowie lite

Side question - do the Blazers have any trade exceptions left or have they all expired ?

Except no where in the post just quoted did I mention anything about him specifically being 6'3". The YMCA thing was an overall roster thing.

Still, the point is, we needed (and still need) more help up front. Not denying his skills. But in terms of a smaller, scoring guard option who will be required to rotate to much bigger players, we seem pretty set.

they just got a small one in the Powell deal.

So far the two teams won the trade deadline are Denver and Bulls. Orlando and Raptors on fire sale

The Bulls have a really talented guard. They apparently want to take advantage of Lavine. They added another All-Star. Meanwhile Neil.......

What makes you guys so sure that a buyout candidate will come to us? They can go to Lakers, Clippers, Nets, Miami, Philly or whoever where they have a better Chance to win a ring

Will Orlando buy him out after trading for him?

they’re in complete rebuild mode, anything other than a buyout would make little to no sense. I guess they could sign and trade him later, but that’s about the only logical alternative.
