Powell has skills. It's just that we need frontcourt help. Glad that he is a 6'3" scorer who can contribute. But we seem to have those already.

Well we can pray that this opens up CJ to be traded. Powell is a "win now" starter that could replace CJ and free up CJ to be moved for someone at small forward or power forward.

You guys have no idea how good Norman Powell is.

He's basically a better Trent. He doesn't rebound, but he also plays defense, and scores the shit out of the ball.

Only problem is he's an UFA at the end of the season.

Can we extend him now?
It doesn't help the frontcourt... but this is an upgrade for the team.
This likely means more time for Little as SF.
Also, this drops us to 13 players - so now we need to find someone on the buyout market.

Sidenote: Magic decided to pass on Ariza/Collins/2 firsts (one of which was the 16th pick) for Gordon in the off season only trade him for Gary Harris (Who cares)/ Hampton (24th pick)/ and a future top 16 protected first. Ariza was flipped for a second, and Collins could probably have been as well.

What a stupid organization.

This is the organization that low-balled Shaq after all.

Maybe Neil stop pursuing Gordon when he found out that Aldridge will come back here

Gonna be Aldridge

I think I’ve already listed it a couple times. Great in transition, cuts hard to the hoop, really good defender, hits the 3 ball real well.
Can he throw a lob pass? Now that would be awesome as well.

A 2 for 1 deal. We were already two down (I don't include Blevins). There's no way we don't have one or two buyout candidates lined up, or perhaps even another teade.

There is still an hour and a half.

I would be surprised if Powell opts out of his deal cause he is making 11m next year and good chance cap is not going up and might even come down a little so unless there is a stupid team out there willing to give out like 15 million per year only reason he MIGHT opt out is for chance to start. I am not saying he will not opt out but i think good chance he will be a Blazer next season UNLIKE Trent who prolly will not cause he will prolly get a 10 to 12 m offer and i am not sold on Trent yet but this is a small gamble on the Blazers part that Trent might not be as good as he has showed.

My understanding with Trent was it wasn't just the money, but a starting role. He was unlikely to re-sign with us. At best, we could have S&Ted him. Powell is a huge return for Trent and a hobbled Hood.

^truth

What i am surprised we have not heard is something like this from a Quick or someone else --- Now that the Blazers have made a trade they are prolly done and will explore the buy out market to address front court needs

This means NeO is prolly trying to get a bargain 4/5 but i guess we shall see -- a little under 90 min remaining

I agree.
But i do wonder who will be the whipping post now? CJ or back to Melo? Maybe Nurk can hold that position for a week or two? Simons can take a few weeks maybe as well?

You don't think Powell wants to start either? And it doesn't really matter what Trent wants, he's an RFA. Powell can leave if he feels like it.

I gotta feeling the buyout guy isn’t gonna be Aldridge. I think there are other teams that can provide more minutes and I think there will be other guys that fit our needs better. Someone like Porter maybe? I would love to believe we’re just gonna hand minutes to Nas, but I just don’t think that’s gonna happen.

He was a restricted free agent role player, he didn't get to call the shots when it came to if he was playing here or if he was starting. All of that is of no consequence now but I've heard it all season and it's been nonsense the whole time.

How is Powell going to feel about being a bench player again?
