Outside the playoffs, teams I think will make good trade partners:

Cleveland -- that payroll is ridiculous for their team, but they have no one I want.

I don't know. I think if you are deadset on trading CJ, some combo of Darius Garland, Kevin Porter Jr. and the Cavs' lottery pick at least would be worth thinking about.

Looking for teams who are underperforming to make change.

Philly's at the top of the list. But I have no interest in that Harris contract, and Brand just said they aren't trading Ben.
I agree Philly is the team that needs him the most and would give the most value. Is there a third team that needs Harris?

How about Nance, Garland, 2 of Osman, Porter or Winder plus the lottery pick? We would have to take Exum also to make salaries work. Could send Simons to them also.

I don't think either team does that. If we are trading CJ, it's for an upgrade NOW. There is no way Neil rebuilds fully with Dame still here. On the same note, CLE has no need urgency to trade all their young pieces for a 30 yr old CJ.

Why would you want to trade CJ of PG? PG never shows up when it really matters.
Ok we can have recency bias or we can look at the whole year. The whole year he’s averaged 21.5 ppg on 44% shooting while also shooting 41% from 3. All this while playing great defense. If you don’t think he can help this team you need to look past this series and past your bias against him. He is a better piece than CJ. CJ is just a good scorer on a crazy contract

They got PG for a million picks+Shai Gilgeous Alexander. If I am the GM that did that i don't admit defeat that easily and sacrifice all that for CJ.

Denver might want to do something.

New Orleans might want to expedite their development.

Pacers facing a big decision with Oladipo's upcoming FA next year.

Nets might have a bit of a logjam with Kyrie/KD returning.

Gotta see what happens to the Clips/Rockets. Those teams are usually pretty volatile and have huge expectations.
Don't forget Orlando.

I really don't think CJ has done himself any favors in this postseason.

Is he really even tradable with that albatross contract?

I’m willing to say almost every team in the NBA has an albatross of a contract.

however how many of those contracts put up 20+PPG?

Why do we need DJ are we trading Nurkic? Also remember that the Nets weren't built to win this season. They where built to win more for next season. If they are healthy they will have a really solid team.
Nurkic is injury prone, more of an improved Whiteside replacement.

I agree with that. I'm just saying there are attractive pieces on that roster if we went with a rebuild or even if we were looking to acquire assets to flip somewhere else for veteran assistance.

That 5th pick is really valuable. Could get us the next Dame level player in Portland.

In this draft, especially, I think. I don't think there's great value at the very top because there's not a lot separating the first seven or eight prospects. A team really valuing someone in that group, especially someone generally projected out of the top four could give up something really good for the fifth pick.

For instance, I was talking with a scouting director from an NBA team a few months ago. He was very high on Toppin. Thought he was a top three or four player. Now Toppin is getting projected seven, eight, or nine in a lot of the recent mocks. To listen to this scout rave about Toppin, though, I got the impression he would give up something to get to draft him.

Would anyone target Kevin Love and #5 pick?
No Love is not someone you can count on being healthy for large parts of seasons and his contract is terrible. He is owed 90 million over the next three years. Talk about a anchor contract. They better be giving multiple first round pics to take on that bloated contract for a injury plagued player.

CJ for Love and the 5 makes a ton of sense.

CJ for Levert and whatever would be a steal for us--IMO, there's little chance the Nets would be interested.

As much as Philly might like CJ, I don't see a ton on their side that makes sense for Portland. Harris and Richardson, maybe, but I don't see that working out financially.

Anything involving Love makes no sense. Our weakness may be the four, but it’s also defense.

btw everyone can stop fantasizing about trading CJ. Shit ain’t happening while Olshey is the GM.

I think Olshey hires a defensive coach to help Stotts and runs it back next year. Remember, Ariza, Nurk, and Collins have played a combined 0 minutes together.

Great, no changes but a draft pick and praying we retain Melo+Whiteside and Hood to recover... One year older as a team, one less year of Dame’s prime.

That’s eight deep, and it’s not counting guys I expect to take a jump next year in Little and Gabriel, or guys they’ll add in free agency. They really aren’t that far off, they just need to stay relatively healthy, just like any other team. Can’t be missing multiple starters and expect to beat the best teams.

Still far too weak at 3/4. Same story different season.

Melo could make more elsewhere I would imagine. Perhaps he likes it here but who knows. Hassan is gone most likely. Need to see major growth from Little, Simons, and Gabriel.

So, we will be getting back a solid, average vet, a guy coming off a very serious injury, and a guy who has yet to prove he is even an average starter. That helps the depth, but we also need an upgrade in quality.
