I dont get the love for Prince. I dont think he's any better than Harkless.

I personally would not do this trade

He probably better offensively but I think Harkless better on the defensive.

I think the point isn't whether Prince is better, so much as the fact that he'a about $8M cheaper. If we can get comparable production at 1/5 the cost, wouldn't that be wise?

Sure I just saying your getting more offensive then defense even though Prince came out college as defender. But so he capable to be defender he just hasn't shown it yet.

In Bones' example the reason Prince is ideal is because even if he is the same as Harkless (or slightly worse) doing a Harkless for Prince swap saves us over $8 million. That frees up the potential to use the Full-MLE thus being more likely to keep some of our free agents (Hood, Kanter, and Curry) or to get a more impactful player.

If Prince sucks we simply let him walk at the end of next year.
Yup. I tried to explain that too, in my posts and my latest video.

Harkless, Trent, #25 for Robert Covington.
Turner, Leonard, 2021, 2023 1st round picks for Blake Griffin, with two future 2nds going to Charlotte for Willy Hernangomez.
Resign Hood for Tax-MLE. Resign Layman too.

Lillard (36) / Simons (12)
McCollum (36) / Hood (12)
Covington (32) / Hood (18)
Griffin (33) / Layman (15)
Collins (26) / Hernangomez (22)

Lillard (36) / Simons (12)
McCollum (36) / Hood (12)
Covington (32) / Hood (18)
Griffin (33) / Collins (15)
Nurkic (26) / Hernangomez (16) / Collins (6)

If the trade is executed at the draft we can include 2020 and 2022 or whatever.

You really think they give us Griffin for two firsts and Turner and Meyers? You really like Willy Hernangomez

If MN drafts Rui I'd go hard after Covington.

He's pretty much everything that we're missing in the starting unit.

Phoenix is reportedly shopping the 6th pick. Is there a package that works for us?

I expect more teams to shop their pick as we get closer to the draft.

Love the idea of this but I don’t think the Pups go after Rui after being bit by a similar player in the past (Derrick Williams).

They're fucked if they give him the Supermax. They stay in no man's land
And they're fucked if they let him walk.

There's no winning scenario for them unless they somehow package Bridges, Monk, and future picks for a couple star players.

If I'm Charlotte, I'm offering him the supermax but I'm demanding that the 5th year be a team option.

They have to offer him the supermax. It's not that with the money they will save they will get anybody else and they have shown the ability to tank with him on the roster as well lol

Did you guys catch the bit from Mike Richman on his podcast yesterday?

He said the Blazers had talks with CLE for Love before he got his extension last year. CLE reneged and said they wanted to build around him apparently.

I wonder if that stance has changed now from either team. And those contracts we were probably trying to unload on them are expiring in one year.

He also thinks we will try to use the pick to shed salary to get under the tax this year to open up for MLE for Hood.

The minute Cleveland signed Love to an extension it tanked his value. Any team that traded for him before the extension could've let him play out the year and signed him to a much more reasonable contract with his bird rights this summer if it worked out. I'd be surprised if we pursued him now, unless all we had to give up was ET and Leonard.

As for the other part, I'm sorry but anyone who says we are going to use our pick to shed salary loses credibility in my mind. This summer there are more free agents than there is money to sign them all to what they are expecting. There are going to be some really good value deals. Teams aren't going to sacrifice precious cap space before free agency even starts so that they can get the 25th pick. The pick might be used in a more balanced trade but not a shedding salary trade. To do that we'll have to wait until later in the free agency process and offer a 2020 pick but by then it might be too late.

Might lose credibility in your mind, but I can still dream that they can package that pick with ET and not have ET! :)
