I think Olshey hires a defensive coach to help Stotts and runs it back next year. Remember, Ariza, Nurk, and Collins have played a combined 0 minutes together.

That’s eight deep, and it’s not counting guys I expect to take a jump next year in Little and Gabriel, or guys they’ll add in free agency. They really aren’t that far off, they just need to stay relatively healthy, just like any other team. Can’t be missing multiple starters and expect to beat the best teams.

Many weaknesses and question marks. How will Hood return, Ariza-Melo 36 years old, will Nurk stay healthy, will Zach stay on the court and improve a lot to warrant starting PF. Will we find decent backup guard and C with our cap situation?

Love has missed a quarter of a season in each of the last 3 full seasons. Carmelo wasn't signed, but I am guessing part of that was he was waiting for the right spot. Do you really want to pay 30+ million for a player who you can only count on for a maximum of .75 % of a season?

That’s not a good SF lineup lol Trent is the only good player there (hood is a big ? Rn) and he’s a natural 2. Ariza is older and honestly works better as a stretch 4 or backup 3, he isn’t a playoff starter anymore. Which shows where we are at and haven’t changed since Harkless/Aminu.

Wes Matthews was as hard of a worker as ever wore the red&black. He has never fully recovered from his achilles injury and his first year back was particularly a struggle. Hood, who wasn't as good as Wes to begin with, is going to bounce back in half the time with no loss in his game? Talk about a leap of faith!

Number I don't see a lot of GM would want CJ. He not two way player plus his age and his contract. He might talk that he is team player but you don't see that on the court. He has tunnel vision when he has the ball in hands and very little makes everyone around him better he just not that type player.

Olshey needs to add depth through the draft or by trade or FA. But the depth have to be quality depth that's mean players that can be at least your 8-11 guys that you can count on. To me Simons Gabriel and Little hasn't show enough consistently on the court to be in that 8-11. Yes all 3 could jump up and get there with a good off season but they aren't there yet. Just my opinion.

I wonder what's the most the Kings can get for Marvin Bagley. They really should trade him, because the poor sap will never live down not being Doncic in Sacramento. Sam Bowie at least got a fresh start in New Jersey.

I think Cleveland needs to throw in a pick, and we might need to as well. New Orleans needs something for taking on that Horford contract, but I'm not sure it's #5 (but possibly, with our pick going to CLE).

PHI starting lineup could be: Simmons/Redick/Harris/Love/Embiid. I think that's probably best in the league.

We could end up using Jrue as a swiss-army knife. Defense first-player in the starting lineup, manning the point in the second unit.

Lillard/Trent/Jrue/Collins/Nurkic - lots of defense. No excuses for Stotts at that point.

Not with a 3 year 90 mil contract attached to it. We would have no ability to sign anyone else and have to hope that who ever we picked was able to be a superstar since we could not get any role players. THey would have to give up several picks to take on that contract.

Same as the last 6 years, we need new forwards and a different coach. If we can turn CJ into a stretch 4 and our pick and scraps into a wing defender with some spot up ability I think we are a lot better next season.

I no longer see Collins as a starting 4 on a championship level team. I’d like him backing up 4 and 5 off the bench though, unless he’s needed in a trade to obtain starter level caliber players.

Its time to call around and see what Collins/CJ/Simons/16th pick is worth.

He does have championship experience and would fit in well with next to Nurk.

To be fair, it was the asset of the No. 5 pick that made me overlook the deficiencies I see in Love ... that fifth pick could be used to acquire something else that might compensate in some way for what Love doesn't do well. I'm still not super-convinced Love is a great fit in Portland ... there'd have to be multiple changes to the roster for me to think that would work. And, at his age with his injury history, depending on him is too risky, IMO.

Maybe we could convince someone to swap us the 15 so we can pick someone on the level of Kawhi Leonard or Giannis Antetokoumpo, since the success of prior year picks at a certain number apparently rigorously defines the value of a future pick.

I am saying taking one of the worst contracts in the league because you get the 5th pick is crazy. Plus you give up your second leading scorer for that terrible contract. People keep saying, but we get the 5th pick, like that guarantees up some superstar. But I guess you are okay with giving up our 2nd leading scorer taking on one of the worst contracts in the NBA in hopes that the 5th pick makes us contenders, when there is just as good a chance as that pick being another Mario and now the blazers are hamstrung with Love and his contract and worse off.

Or we can get a lesser player like Love and hope to get a star in the draft...
