...yeah, there's really not much of a weak spot in that whole lineup...in fact, if they continue to improve I can see either or Gleyber Torres or Miguel Andujar becoming a leadoff hitter someday considering their lower SO rate/higher contact rate/OBP as well as providing young legs on the base paths.

78 degrees here in the Bay Area today. The weekly forecast predicts temps in the Seventies by mid day. Great weather for the boys for the pre ST Season.

You are lucky Michael we are having Monsoon type Rain here in the Northeast.

Just a couple weeks ago with the temp at 30 degrees at 7 Am, my Beagle stood by her leash wagging her tail, awaiting her daily walk. I'm a good pet parent so I bundled up and took her out. Froze my ass off but when one has a dog there are obligations.

I know I had a Siberian Husky and all she wanted to do is go out in the cold rain and snow.

Just found this article and decided to share it....I know it's a pipe dream to land JD Martinez but what a line up it would make;

New York Yankees. The best way for Martinez to stick it to the Red Sox: sign with the Yankees! Sure, the Yankees already have a glut of outfielders. Sure, they’re trying to stay under the luxury tax. Let’s be clear here, however: The Yankees can afford to go past the $197 million luxury tax if they want. But they don’t have to.

Cot’s Contracts has their estimated payroll at around $162 million. Throw in about $10 million for benefits and other things that factor into the tax threshold and you are at $172 million. If Martinez needs a six-year, $150 million contract, that’s an AAV of $25 million, pushing the Yankees right up to that $197 million figure. So you need to make a deal: Jacoby Ellsbury makes $21 million each of the next three seasons and he’s the guy you want to trade, but that’s not going to happen unless the Yankees eat a large chunk of that salary. Even then, does anyone want Ellsbury at $30 million over three years? Probably not. So you have to trade Brett Gardner, making $11.5 million this season with a $12.5 million option for 2019. You can trade that contract.

Then we get this lineup:

SS Didi Gregorius

LF Aaron Judge

RF Giancarlo Stanton

DH J.D. Martinez

C Gary Sanchez

1B Greg Bird

CF Aaron Hicks

2B Gleyber Torres

3B Miguel Andujar

Here’s the other catch: Signing Martinez could actually save the Yankees money over the long haul since they wouldn’t have to sign Manny Machado (as everyone seems inclined to believe they’ll do). Martinez gives you Machado’s bat for a lower AAV, and if Andujar is legit, they won’t need a third baseman anyway.

Plus, you get to make Red Sox fans cry and create one awesome Murderers’ Row of sluggers. Can you say 300 home runs?

^^^^ great stuff 59; for some reason I had thought JD had already signed. :smiley-hmm:Indeed an addition of JD (if even possible) would no doubt create a Murderer's Row lineup, wow ~!~

I hope both Andujar and Torres have an incredible ST; good enough to be on the Opening Day lineup...

Aaron Boone is holding a Press Conference at 12 pm on Yes and MLB Network if anyone is interested.

...I'm thinking that the Yanx' management is a bit apprehensive about starting the season with TWO rookies (Torres & Andujar) starting at 2B and 3B.

...I like Andujar but I like Moustakas even more....and if the Yanx can get him on a 1 year deal, I say do it. Being a LHed hitter with power, Moose can raise his stock even more in next year's FA market by hitting in Yankee Stadium for 81 games while in a Yankees lineup that would be simply stacked...he also provides solid defense.

...but if the Yanx sign him they'd also have to give up a draft pick which would be a lot to ask in return for only one from Moustakas, not to mention that his salary would put the Yanx very near the Lux Tax threshold....yet another reason for Cashman to jettison Ellsbury or Gardner.

Moustakas made 8 million last year so if the Yankees could get him for one year I'd wonder how much they'd be willing to shell out. He is also hitting age 30 close to the end of the '18 season which would make me believe he's looking for more years and dollars. My guess earlier in the offseason was that Moustakas and his buddy Hosmer would have gotten snatched up fast but the market did not go that way. We'll have to see what happens. Bet Cashman has black and blue marks all over his ass kicking it for giving Ellsbury such a nice contract. That deal was listed as Cashmans worst.

Congrats on you B-day 59, just read this deal reported by Rosenthal. Also the article states that while not likely they are talking. Ellsbury & Andujar to Baltimore, Machado to the Yankees, Tampa Bay involved sending Odorizi to Baltimore and the Ray get mid level Yankee prospects. Machado for one year, Jesus Christ he's going to want a ton of money, I'd rather see the Yankees hold on to Andujar .

CC Sabathia rolled his ankle during Spring Training warm ups as per River Ave. Blues.

Justin Verlander tweeted a fly in the Yankees euphoric '18 season hopes with a comment that there was another team to beat. One would like to blow these comments off but unfortunately Verlanders Detroit & Astro Teams have put the Yankees to bed four times. It's time for the Yankees to dig in, get hard, and be confident without the hype and prove their mettle on the field. The '18 Dodgers got the brains from Tampa and Oakland, stocked up on players and still lost.

The Yankees reportedly attended Tim Lincecum's showcase as per River Ave. Blues.

I liked Lincecum, the guy had great stuff before he went south. Best of luck on his efforts to return.

Yeah, I liked him too...but his pitching motion was so violent I'm surprised his arm held up as long as it did....but when he was on, he was electric.

Thanx Mess...yeah, I had a great BD...lotsa salmon sashimi...and warm sake.

Blue Jays have signed Jaime Garcia to a 1 Year 8 Million dollar contract as per Jon Heyman.

Damn, 8 mil for Garcia, damn they must be hard up in Toronto, that guy will have a hard time in the AL East.
