Without the defense?
I really don't think they are similar players, but one thing you have to keep in mind is that Mathews was a 4 year college player and came into the league at 23 where as Trent was a one and done who came into the league as a 20 year old and is still 2 years younger than when Mathews came into the league. Mathews started out being a decent defender (so has Trent) and has worked hard to become a very good defender now. Give Trent the proper time and he may surpass what Mathews is.
We always try to fit different people in different roles. Wes, was one of a kind. You don't just become a hard worker, part of your DNA.
I remember Chauncey Billips commenting that he thought GTjr. would be a steal in the 2nd round. He mentioned his bb IQ was high and had a well balanced game. But emphasized his heart and drive to get better.yes, and from all accounts, Trent has that work ethic as well. He also has a very high pedigree much like Mathews as both of their dads made a nice career out of the NBA as role players.

He just turned 21. I so badly wish he could grow like 3 more inches. Would be perfect as our SFoTF.
I’d also like to know where Wes was when he turned 21.
I've said it before, but I think more like Patty Mills?
How does patty mills think?I've said it before, but I think more like Patty Mills?
I love it. Just laugh at the clown.
Did Olshey get lucky again?
He has a good track record with guys like this. Barton, Crabbe, Connaughton, Layman all became rotation players.
