I think both in Trent and Simons will be alright. Trent more 3 and D right now and Simons more of a shooter. Simons moves his feet alright but he need get stronger to help him on the defense side. On offense he try to be Dame and CJ instead try being offense player that to get everyone in involved in the offense. So right now Trent is ahead of Simons in the overall game at this level.

The thing with Simons is he probably should’ve sat another year. Trent played college ball and is physically more ready for the league. Simons is way more raw despite being the same age. Relying on him to fill a significant role with no backup plan was a risk in regards to the team, but it also accelerated his development. You'll see Simons take the jump next year.
I hope you're right.

He saved us from needing to keep Bazemore.

So, yes.

That is reason enough to celebrate Trent's sudden ability to shoot. Either that, or he has always been able to shoot and Stotts just wouldn't give him more than 5 minutes until forced to. Sound like what happened to CJ? We had to go out and make a horrible trade and CJ was sitting on the bench the whole time. He 'suddently' learned how to shoot (too much sometimes) when given minutes....when everyone else in the country already knew he was at least quite good at putting the ball in the hoop.

Trent can be streaky at times but he needs the minutes to get going sometimes in games. When he play down the G- league last year he might miss 2 or 3 but when he start hitting he can score in bunches.

As with most players, it's tough to get hot when you are playing such sporadic minutes here and there. Also, as with any other player (especially guard often forced to play SF) their main role is to get the ball to Dame/CJ.

Very small sample size, but twice Trent has played in a game where one of Dame/CJ was out. At Milwaukee back in November when Dame was out and Saturday against the Thunder when CJ was out. In those two games, Trent is a combined 17-25 (68%) including 8-13 from '3' (62%).

En Fuego! :evilfire:

Okay, so, was Trent playing with the flu tonight? Did anyone count how many air balls he threw up?

(See what I did there? ;) )

Flu just don't leave you over night you could see he was tired one reason his shots was coming up short or the air balls. But gave him credit with his D late in the game and ran that fast break hard at the end.

Once he gets settled in and more confident he will be, a very good player. Even now he lets the game come to him and Ive been impressed with his ability to assist. Smart player.

Yeah I think you could see it in his face. He looked old and drained, LOL

Good for him for toughing it out.

Its funny, first the issue was Stotts never playing him. Now he runs him into the ground while he’s probably still less than 100%. I know they were short on guys, but Little only got 15 minutes.

I have to say, I couldn't believe it when Stotts substituted in Hezonja at the end instead of Little or Hoard. :dunno:

Little and Hoard are rookies, what do you mean you couldn’t believe it?? Is there anything Stotts hates more than a rookie?
Let's say it was a cold bucket of water in the face when I saw him enter the game.

Rationale: Hezonja went in for his ball handling, since he was replacing Simons.

Reality: Little and Hoard are rookies.

Earning more minutes. Two straight games now when he’s gotten rotation minutes that he’s competed on both ends. Weird how his shooting looks better the more minutes he gets. Weird how that works. If we’re gonna suck let’s at least develop some players. I didn’t watch all his g league games for nothing god dammit. I know he can score in a variety of ways. Look at his body, and he's the same age as Simons. Forget scrubs like Bazemore and let the kids play.
Perhaps, at one time, Duane Allman said: "Toast to you" @Scalma aaDLAmO.jpg

Gotta say - Hezonja played perfect defense on their game-tying 3-attempt. That was as well as you can cover a shooter without fouling.

I'll give you that. Good thing too after the one before where he just stood there with his hands at his knees.

Gotta lower those expectations! One good play out of five is a win at this point!

On the Last posession in regulation, when Russell shot a long 3, Trent lost Burks who almost hit the game winner. Trent was extremely lucky Burks missed.

At 06:10 you can see it, that was poor poor defense

The way Trent and Ant are playing, Trent needs to be the first guard off the bench. He is playing with confidence and under control.

Trent is quieting some of the "way too soon" criticism he received in his first year and a half. (When he was 19 and 20)
He is a 2nd round pick that will most definitely stick in the NBA. I agree on the Wes Mathews comparisons. Especially their work ethic.

Patty Mills or Wes are good comparisons, I think.

Since the calendar hit 2020, Trent is averaging 10 ppg while shooting 46% from the field, and 44% from deep. But honestly the shooting isn’t a surprise. He could always shoot. The shitty percentages he put up in garbage time were never a good barometer. The most impressive thing has been his defense, and how consistent it’s been. It’s there pretty much every night.

Trent has definitely taken that next step and is becoming a solid performer off the bench while playing some good defense. If he can stay consistent and Simons can have more games like last night it will help the team move up.
