It'll be real interesting to see who Trump picks as his running mate.
 
This will be over after trump wins indiana. Of course cruz will come up with a reason its not but at that point party insiders that have started already to start supporting trump and more importantly cruz supporters see that their is no chance and either vote trump or don't vote at all. As for taking the nomination away from trump if he has 1237 going in or just short that is not happening unless you think were in fantasyland which were not. The party will insure he gets whatever he is short if he is to avoid the contested convention as that just hands the white house to hillary. This race is over

...pretty much...in order to deny Trump the required delegates Cruz must win Indiana or California.
 
Cruz will have 1237 delegates aligned and could move to dissolve rule 16a, unbinding all delegates.

It's the nuclear option, but no way does GOP hand Trump control. Trump is the Benedict Arnold of the GOP. First major fight and he'd flip DEM to spite them.
 
But just to be safe.... May need a sirhan sirhan.

Yep- Indiana is Cruz' Alamo.
As for Trump possibly falling a couple dozen or so delegates short prior to the convention- I would tend to believe unless the fix is REALLY in and there aren't any independent unbound delegates, even a stupid chump (lol) like Trump will be able to gather up the few handful of delegates needed. But I'm sure there are people who want to continue fantasizing about a scenario which will probably destroy the GOP as we know it.
Maybe I'm in the minority with this opinion, and maybe I'm wrong - but (imo) there should be a few delegates at the Convention who recognize, acknowledge and are willing to cast their lot with the overwhelming leader who has injected new energy into the Party.

Trump is on track to break the Republican record for the total popular vote—he already has passed that of 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Yes indeed, it's all about amassing 1237 delegates - and IF Trump can stay close to his pace of winning three times as many states as Cruz, he should get to 1237 before the Convention -
...and if not, there HAS TO BE a few sensible independent people/delegates who recognize and are willing to get on board with the Trump steamroller.
And a "steamroller" can beat Hillary!

If the GOP was really serious about beating Hillary, the Party "establishment" would just put an end to this farce and tell Kasich to drop out because any candidate at this point who has won just ONE state (his home state) has less delegates than someone who has dropped out over a month ago doesn't stand a chance at becoming the President.

I'm still waiting to hear from the political pundits on TV or anyone else who wants to address these horseshit polls which have Kasich beating Hillary yet he has won only one state and is firmly in 3rd place. :nerd:

The people who are answering these polls indicating Kasich would beat Hillary, are they voting in these primaries?
Are they Democrats? If so, does this mean they would rather vote for Republican Kasich over Hillary? Nah, I don't think so.

Then why the hell aren't they showing up during the primaries and giving Kasich more than third rate vote totals?

...but yeah, Kasich isn't hurting anyone but Trump by staying in the race...if there is in fact a contested convention, anything can happen...but to be honest, yesterday's announcement by Cruz caught me off guard...I thought he and Kasich might end up as running mates.

If Trump is smart he will pick a woman as his running mate as well. There's a lot of good options to pick from. Frankly, Cruz could've done better himself.

...I dunno, Carly Fiorina is a very sharp individual and a great speaker...if Trump is REALLY smart and wants to steal votes from the Dems, he'll pick a minority woman.

I think Rice would be the best choice. It would shake things up dramatically. Fiorina is bright and a good speaker but there's baggage there between the HP stuff and the fact that she's for all purposes a failed candidate.

C'mon, cut the crap. You're trying to prove a point which has already been established. You know darn well, and MOST on this board have acknowledged or believe the GOP will "never" allow Trump to have the nomination or will try with all it's resources to prevent him from doing so. Illegal? I never said they've done anything illegal (so far).....but just for clarification purposes - things can be "FIXED" or set in place for a favorable outcome WITHOUT breaking any laws.
I think maybe, possibly, perhaps "fixing" something is nothing more than having a strategy or implementing a plan of action.
I'm surprised a savvy guy like you made so much of a common simple slang term used by someone (me) who disagrees and dislikes what may take place at the Convention.
And make no mistake - in my opinion - if Trump is within a handful of 1237 at the Convention, and leading the "runner up" by hundreds of delegates and there is indeed a plan, a course of action, mutual agreements, or having things "fixed" where Trump is NOT to receive the necessary delegates required, then IMO, the GOP establishment is simply and plainly thwarting the will of a huge majority of actual GOP voters across the nation.
And there ARE plenty of people who agree with this opinion.

Back to Kasich.....how and why can this guy be favored in polls to beat Hillary yet he has been running firmly in 3rd place and has won only his home state.

...if it goes to a contested convention you may not like what takes place... but that does not by default make what happens illegal. Complaining about rules that have been in place for a long time is nothing more than sour grapes.

Trump is absolutely toxic, which is why you don't see anyone aligned with him outside the handful of suckupartists with their hands out. Carson and Christie, now Boehner....all flawed politicians with an obvious need for cash. Yup...Carson is a schill. He got painted as a pedophile by Trump and he's out there running cover for the Donald.

Trump can't name any high profile advisors, because none want to be associated with him. Nor can he even align a prospective cabinet because he's alienated anybody worth a damn outside of democrats (excluding Hillary and Bernie). Anyone hitching their star to this buffoon is gonna have zero future options and be willing to become a laughing stock/political pariah the remainder of their lives. That goes for any of these idiots out there that are supporting Trump.....takes a fucking idiot to vote for one.

Yeah, I could see Cruz making that motion on rule 16a and the rest of the convention telling him to sit down and shut the fuck up. Boehner called cruz lucifer and said he'd vote for trump. It is all over except for the coronation. The trump train will not be stopped.
