Had to be cocaine or a lot of xans... hope this pushes him to make changes.

Unless he was stoned/hungover during a game, this seems like over-kill.

Remember that these are escalating. Each time he gets busted the penalty gets longer. I can't remember his history, but I'm guessing this is at least a third time, and probably not pot.

I was wrong above;
Evans has never been previously suspended from the league for any drug-related offenses, so his punishment only fits with the terms of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement if he tested positive for what the league defines as “drug of abuse.” per the CBA, “If a player tests positive for a Drug of Abuse during Random Testing or Reasonable Cause Testing, he will be dismissed and disqualified from the NBA.” The league’s list of Drugs of Abuse is as follows: “amphetamine and its analogs, benzodiazepines, cocaine, GHB, ketamine, LSD, opiates, and PCP.”

I know anti-opiate politics are the big thing now, but I would hope legal use of a prescribed opiate would not generate a 2 year suspension.

Interesting timing. I bet more than half the league has violated the drug program. Sounds like the league just needed a fall guy.
