For the record, some of us prefer to be aggressively passive. Interfere with my nap-time and you're in for a world of hurt!

I think a lot of people aren’t understanding the logistics of getting the jets to Ukraine. If Russia tracks jets taking off from a NATO airbase and flying into Ukraine airspace, they’re not gonna care who is flying the jets or if they’re donated. They’re going to consider it aggression from NATO.

Desperate battle to find survivors trapped in Mariupol maternity hospital: Rescuers comb rubble after 'genocide' bomb blast as temperatures plunge to -4C with fears any injured children will freeze to death
  • Rescuers are in a race against time to free survivors trapped under the rubble at Mariupol maternity hospital
  • The complex in the besieged southern port city suffered a 'direct hit' by Russian rockets, Zelensky has said
  • Footage shows one building totally destroyed and another badly damaged as wounded patients evacuate
  • Other clips show badly injured nurses being treated while pregnant women are carried out on stretchers
  • Zelensky said children are trapped under rubble and argued the bombing is proof of 'genocide'
  • At least 17 people were injured in the attack, including women who were in labour at the time, officials said
  • Rescuers are now rushing to pull out survivors as temperatures are set to plunge to minus 4 degrees C
  • Hours earlier, foreign minister had warned 3,000 babies in the city were without access to food or medicine
  • Residents of Mariupol have been forced to begin burying the dead in mass graves amid the bombardment
  • Boris Johnson also condemned the strike as 'depraved' and vowed to step up support to the Ukrainian military

All these please stay on topic posts remind me of at work when someone sends a mass email out to whole company by mistake. Then everyone replies all asking everyone to stop responding and stop replying all, creating a never ending cycle of spam.

More importantly it's becoming more obvious that this war is becoming a partisan issue, just like everything else.
But are we going to happy hour after work, or not??

Russian economy in 'shock' from unprecedented economic war - Kremlin

I am starting to wonder how much these sanctions will creep into other parts of Europe, simply because there are several EU countries that have assets with Russian banks. I don't feel bad for them, they shouldn't be in bed with corrupt countries, but if it starts bleeding over and disrupting other economies things could quickly change. At least the US doesn't have much exposure in Russia, well, besides our former president.

I would think the rest of the world should be able to help insulate Europe from too much pain...

It's okay everyone, turns out there isn't an invasion after all.

--------------------------------
Two weeks into Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov falsely claimed Thursday that the country “did not attack" its neighbor.

He also said there are no plans for Russia to attack other countries and reiterated that a “situation in Ukraine” posed a “direct threat to the Russian Federation”

Lavrov, who met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday, said the West is behaving dangerously. That includes the European Union, who “have violated their principles and values” while delivering weapons to Ukraine, according to Lavrov.

The meeting between Kuleba and Lavrov ended without an agreement reached on evacuation corridors or a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Some context: Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine began in the early hours of February 24 and its attacks have continued unabated since then. Russia has, repeatedly and without any basis, asserted that it was not the aggressor in the conflict, which it launched after amassing up to 150,000 troops on the border with Ukraine in what it claimed were military exercises but were in fact preparations for war.

I hate the way Putin causes all of the problems and then acts like he's a victim and everybody is out to get him. That gets really old. We shouldn't support that kind of behavior at all.

... and it's not like we have not seen this playbook before. Some people claim that January 6 is a plot against Republicans.

When people don't have logic on their side, they can always appeal to the idiots and the people they control the messaging for. A shame that it works - but that's the world we live in.

Brittney Griner is still in custody in Russia, questions remain about her whereabouts. That's pretty nuts.
