Devin Harris is turning into the Richard Jefferson of last year. Doing great #s but taking away the leadership role from Carter, and tonight was a big red flag.

I find the team should run the offense through vince carter and not Yi or Stromile. Apparently, the Nets thought otherwise tonight.

As vince goes, so goes the Nets. He needs the ball more and harris needs to take less shots and look to get Vince going.

That being said, this is the problem with vince. he is okay not being the guy. he always needs someone to come to him and ask him. he wont step on peoples toes. thats why kidd got pissed at him probably.

Did Vince do anything to help us beat sub-par teams when Devin was out? He did nothing. He had all the chances in the world and he did nothing. I have not seen anything spectacular of Vince since he dunked on his old team. Time to let Devin take over. When the game is on the line, I'd much rather have Devin drive to the basket and draw fouls. He's becoming a true leader who has the intuition to make plays that will win the game.

I agree with a lot of what you said. I'm a big Vince fan just like yourself but we're not blind, we can see his flaws. I would have to agree with a post that The Joker made a few days ago about why Kidd and Vince weren't fit to play together. What he said was actually quite true. Kidd wanted Vince to score 27-30 points every night but Vince on the other hand didn't want that. Vince is more of a person who wants to play a team game and have other players scoring as well. As evidenced from last year, he allowed RJ to take a bigger role than himself in the offense and the same is happening now with Harris.

The other thing is, Vince needs to realize that he can't just be a vocal leader, he needs to lead on the court by his play. His last few games have been an example of how his play has been slipping on the court and we know he's capable of doing more as he showed during the start of this season until just recently.

Not Harris' fault, it's Frank's fault. He never had a game plan for B Lopez to dominate vs this small Knicks team. instead Frank though our small 2nd unit can beat the Knicks.

Nobody is overreacting about Yi's defense. It sucks. Bad.

Maybe everyone is under reacting regarding the rest of the team's defense. Yi is expected to be a more capable and consistent defender than a rookie who is similarly built and has the same problems on defense. Why is that so wrong?

On the other hand, he can't forget -- and it's up to Frank and Carter to remind him -- that he's got a backcourt mate who's made a career of 4th quarter, crunch scoring and playmaking and that diversity in offensive approach is going to be best for the team in the long run. And I think it's a huge mistake to NOT run the offense through Vince a good part of the 4th quarter. He still does more than Devin to keep the team involved in the offense, and so his touches and control of the ball are important for team offensive rhythm. It would also be nice if he saw the ball a little more often earlier in the game so that he has some kind of feel by the time the 4th rolls around.

Of course none of this has anything to do with the icky team defense tonight. And WTF is up with Vince's free throws this year? He's freakin horrible (for him).

Agreed. It doesn't seem that long ago that Devin had a horrible night shooting in Sacramento...and then, in crunch time, he had the courage to put up a jumper and help us get an improbable win. He is one of two go-to guys in the clutch for us, so you have to live with some makes and some misses.

I was cringing too, with all the jump shots in this game. Ly_yng has it right...free throw discrepency killed us. And being unable to get any stops when we needed them.

Carter looked pissed coming into the locker room yesterday as I waited for him by the Nets tunnel at the half. He wouldn't give anyone high fives including these little kids who were devastated. As he came back out for the 3rd I said Vince smile a little....he looked at me and shook his head. Wonder if he was pissed off about not getting enough shots. But Vince doesn't seem like that kind of guy so I think the media is reading into it too much.
