Again. We are human beings. He apologized.
Dude I know you’re human beings! I can’t ignore you so I gotta see you all being human beings all the time in every thread whether I like you or not! And I don’t want my only recourse for that being some weird misplaced joy that you have to engage with us! That’s not helping anyone get along.

A problem that would be solved with my system.

Take a guess as to how many private messages I have.

upload_2025-6-11_15-24-3.png

And that's not even counting the conversations within the private messages.

Or the alerts we get from people flagging posts.

We've gotten serious complaints from members here that we didn't respond to their problem or complaint within 3 minutes. And that was at 5 in the morning Pacific time.

Your system would involve staff logging in and out of monikers dozens of times a day to meet the needs of the community here and posting their love of the Blazers and sports.

It's difficult enough to go through a suddenly popular discussion, delete some personal insults, clean up some broken links, and then participate in that very discussion, and now we have to do that while switching back and forth from different monikers?

That's a lot of additional work that hurts the community and hurts the people who volunteer hundreds of hours a month here.

I appreciate you trying to find solutions, but this, IMO, isn't practical or fair to both the staff and the members here.

If someone overtly abused their mod powers, I'm positive Sly would talk to them and look at removing their mod capabilities. But what do I know? He is an asshole, after all.

I am the biggest asshole here. I can show you the Private Messages.

It's been repeated probably 20 times in here, but nobody is saying there is an abuse of mod powers, and nobody is complaining just of differences of opinion. For this to be continually repeated is pretty annoying, tbh.

Solid answer. Understood. Thanks for explaining the details.

Oh please.... most of those are unsolicited dick picks that you have been sending to us.

Sly has an amazing point here that I would like to piggy back off of. I know this also can be said of the other mods, but I am going to speak personally here.

I do a lot for this site, in the main forum and OT. I take a lot of time, my own time to moderate. There have been times where I have been on here for quite a bit of time just dealing with a moderation issue because people can't get along.

I do this a lot

I don't get paid

I'm a volunteer.

If I had to use two monikers, it would take more of my time. I would have to log out, log back in as a second moniker to post, probably only to immediately come across some people going at it, or a personal insult or someone somehow otherwise not following the rules and have to immediately log back out, back in as a moderator. It would be like that Everytime I am on here. All the time.

Why do you hate me?

But, for real, I serve this community and am willing to do whatever is necessary within reason to make it a better place.

Is blocking Stren the only reason you guys want this?

Not being able to block mods?

Are there other reasons?

@Everything Beagle why are you against a mod using their account to post? I'm curious. afraid their will be abuses of power? You just don't think it's professional? Ethics?

Great post and appreciate your volunteer work.

From a lot of past experience, the ones that think Mods shouldn't be able to post opinion are the ones that believe Mods get season tickets to Blazer games in suites along with a $100 stipend each game. They tend to take message boards way to seriously and even live vicariously through them. They feel that Mods should not be overly negative or positive. I've been a mod several times in the past and would never do it again. Not even for free tickets. Not only did i feel like i had to walk on eggshells, anything you post is question tenfold.

Zero paid baby sitters for Adult posters and trolls. Lot's of work for no reward other than knowing you are helping drive the bus on here and keep it clean.

Dammit @Chris Craig , you shouldn't have made your new non-mod account so obvious.

(Just kidding Ron, appreciate the insight and kind words.)

Was there for Chemical school back in the day. 54ECHO
Thanks for your service my man! Yeah, 17 years old. Graduated HS about 5 days before. First time east of like Multnomah Falls in my life…..what a complete culture shock for me. "No quality control" was brought up. That's why I touched on that at all.

Thanks for the feedback.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but do you all actually like that being said to you? I said that to someone like 15 years ago and got my ass chewed out by a former service person. Never again.

You’d think after being a nerd YOUR WHOLE LIFE, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal for you dawg!

Now way, I actually like it. I was only in for 5 years and don’t have any real bad memories or experiences that I hold on to. I got to kill people/they paid for some school and helped me get a house. No real complaints here.

And as far as this threads topic…..am I not on here enough that I missed what all the drama was? Was there a huge fight that Stren started? I read his posts and they don’t hit me in a negative way. I guess unrealistic, unresearched, not well thought out posts is what get me.
Oh yeah and the ones where people CONTINUOUSLY play the picked on victim….those ones irk me as well!

So wait, you've killed someone AND boned your cousin?

Eesh, now I wish I could ignore you.

@Everything Beagle why are you against a mod using their account to post? I'm curious. afraid their will be abuses of power? You just don't think it's professional? Ethics?

Mods cannot be put on ignore. That is a power normal users do not have.

Posting aggressive bullshit and getting into beef with different posters on here is an abuse of that power. Not could be, not might be someday. Is. Now.

I do not want this power, nor do I want ignore to be eliminated as a feature of the site. Being unable to ignore mods simply means I am subject to all of their opinions whether I like them or not.

You have a platform NOBODY else here gets: guaranteed exposure to all eyeballs who view the thread your post is in.

Does this make any sense to you? It seems really obvious to me so I'm confused as to why you're all getting so defensive about it.

I don't expect a system change; it's obvious having two accounts is too inconvenient. But this is a friction that has always been around and will never go away.

I totally get that. But you have to understand that it's also difficult to get good mods. If the system doesn't allow an easy process to accomplish what you want then the choice is between getting what you want or getting fewer capable mods.

I don't personally think fewer capable and reliable mods should ever be an option, unless that mod is somehow abusing their mod powers.

I think that's why it keeps getting brought up. If there were abuses of that power then removing his ability to mod would be an option.

Since that's not the case their doesn't appear to be anything that can be done which would make much of a difference.

I'm not trying to dismiss your concerns. Just trying to explain why I think it keeps coming back around to that. I do understand how it would be frustrating for you to see, since that's not your concern.

While I understand your feelings, just tell the mod to chill out. Maybe they just lost their job, got divorced, had someone be a total dipshit to them so they come here to vent. I know sometimes I can be a dick without realizing it. Then I feel bad when I reflect on why someone said I was being a dick.

Or don't read their post. I unfortunately don't get that same privilege. And no offense, but @SlyPokerDog says some really annoying stuff.

I wish more people had empathy for mods who do this for free and sometimes spend hours trying to mediate disagreements/clean up threads when they have families and real life stuff too. Its a thankless volunteering effort. We need some more @PtldPlatypus, he mellows everyone out. I haven't seen him posting as much lately!

You know, if I did get a 2nd moniker, you guys could pay me to ban myself.

Look I get it. I feel like the never-nude yelling "there are dozens of us" whenever I bring it up. It makes me look deeply unserious. I'm just trying to get by to get by here. But not acknowledging this shit causes more problems than it solves, and just acknowledging it would go a long way to shutting me up about it.
