For sure. But I haven't seen the eye of the tiger required to be a top 15 player in any of our guys. Except maybe Scoot. And he may get thereDame took 4 years of College. And SGA did. Plus we might land J-dubs brother.
People didn’t know SGA would be THIS good. Patience.
What was Joe's plan exactly? To draft a 6'3 PG and do nothing in the trade or free agency market, hoping Dame would be okay with it? HahahaKeep in mind Dame demanded a trade. It wasn’t Joe’s plan.

Dirk and Giannis took 3 years to come around. SGA too. Kobe. Not stars like Dame though. Those guys don't take 3 years to come around.
I mean, great if they make it to those heights, but nothing indicates that it's at all likely.
Philly is a legit contender with Embiid back now. He’s only now getting to play with the players they acquired in trade. They’ve played at 64 win pace when he plays.Didn't work out so well for Philly

Kawhi and PG weren’t All Star level out of the gate. Steve Nash and Billups took time.
Bucks lost to the Raptors. Be a good Blazer fan and throw shade at Lillard's team. Then ignore the Bucks when they play well. What was Joe's plan exactly? To draft a 6'3 PG and do nothing in the trade or free agency market, hoping Dame would be okay with it? Hahaha
It’s not that it didn’t work out, it’s more based on who they drafted that didn’t pan out.Didn't work out so well for Philly

He did not ask to rescind his trade request. He just wanted to play for Portland while waiting for a Miami trade.

Embiid is the second best big man in the NBA today behind Joker.
Simmons was good for a few seasons then fizzled out (remember when so many in here wanted Simmons for Dame lmao)
And then Markelle Fultz ended up being a complete bust for them in the 2017 draft as the #1 pick, when they passed on guys like Tatum, Lonzo Ball, and De’Aaron Fox.
If they drafted Tatum let’s say instead, you wouldn’t be saying it didn’t work out for them.
They had 3 chances to nab a superstar, and they only got one correct in Embiid.
I wouldn’t say it didn’t work out, more the way they drafted.
let's see now...yep, that's the definition of rescind
Completely agree. How so. He still wanted to be traded. He didn't rescind anything. I think he just realized the Blazers were going to send him elsewhere and tried to control the situation. But, he still wanted to be traded. He was never going to stay.

Completely agree.
Given the circumstances by mid-August, trade was the only real option
He asked to remain in Portland while they figured out how to get him to Miami. Not to completely take away his trade request and stay here for good.rescind: he asked to be traded; he wanted Miami; he realized that was not going to happen; he then asked to remain in Portland
and I said the bridges had been burnt by then. Realizing Miami wasn't going to happen, he asked to remain in Portland but it was too late. If the Bridge wasn't burnt there was too much water that had passed under
besides that, it's pretty clear, to me at least, that trading Dame is what Cronin had wanted to do for quite a while
Jody made that pretty clear. Dame wasn't coming back. She was tired of being held accountable by somebody with more power in the league than herself.Completely agree.

I feel like Dame making public demands was too much for Cronin to handle. He couldn't get good deals with Dame publicly holding him accountable.rescind: he asked to be traded; he wanted Miami; he realized that was not going to happen; he then asked to remain in Portland

If it was obvious SGA was going to be first team All NBA, then why did the Clips trade him? I remember people saying the Clippers got Paul George without giving anybody up, meaning they still had Trez and Lou. People knew SGA would be good but not this good. Show be your post where you said SGA would be the best guard in the league.I'm one of the most passive NBA fans who barely watches the product at all and years ago it was blatantly obvious SGA was gonna be this good. And I was on the books saying this BEFORE the trade happened.

To be fair, while the process hasn't worked for Philly, they got an MVP out of it. They had a team that SHOULD have been a legit contender when they had Butler. They never should have let him walk.
the 2025 top 5 pick .. ?Who did the Blazers get in the Dame trade that has the upside of SGA?
You mean by sucking so bad that we are a legit contender for the #1 pick every year? If so, we should probably throw in the 2024 top 5 as well...the 2025 top 5 pick .. ?
Embiid would have to stay healthy and put that team totally on his back to win the finals.
