We can all propose rumors and such but I think in the end and this is a prediction -- outside of keeping 3 let's say a trade does happen.

I think the final deal that has the 3rd pick being traded will be a multi team deal but IF that happens again I worry that Cronin will not totally screw it up.

You worry that Joe won't totally screw it up?

Giving up 3rd pick for Bridges is the worst case scenario IMO. He is 27 and never been an all star… and one good defensive player will not make this a good defensive team overall. Plus you would lose 23 ppg from Ant. Definition of mediocrity… enjoy the 7-8 seed for 2-3 years while Scoot and Miller become stars.

A stellar point of attack defender would be huge for this team.

Let me tell you if your a fan that is not worried that Cronin and/or Jody will not find a way to screw this up then I want to know what rock you have been living under the past couple years.

This is the same GM that signed GP3 KNOWING he needed surgery and prolly knowing he would not be ready til the new year to all star break. Then you have the Clipper trade and the CJ trade do I really have to go on or does this rest my case.

I really hope that Cronin is not as bad as he has shown and he was under orders to not go over the hard cap etc and now this offseason Jody is like ok go at it do what ya need to do to help get the team and Dame a chance at a ring but I kind of doubt that.

Research double negatives and how those affect logic.

Thybulle is a good POA defender, but even he gets lost in the Billups zone. There's just too many Blazers guarding spots, and letting ballhandlers run right past them.

If there was no 3 second illegal defense rule, the Blazers could get more stops. But once the Center clears the lane (or there is no Blazers Center in the game), it becomes open season for drivers to take flight.

I don't think that Dame is so on board with a one and done pick at 3 as some reporters are reporting without a source.

We better make a fucking move and it better not just be Porzingis. It better be a superstar (Zion), an all nba guy (Siakam) or multiple guys that could get to that level (Bridges and Claxton). While we're at it we better give him a bench for the first time in his career.

2018-19 bench: Curry, Hood, Turner, Collins, Layman, Kanter, Simons, GTJ

If Dame don’t ask for a trade now, he will be like CP3 when he gets old. Getting pass around from team to team.

Bridges is a two way talent who showed in Brooklyn he has better offensive skills than he showed in Phoenix. He's not just a 3 and wing.

You're dealing in absolutes. Dame may retire before he gets to that point. I don't see Dame as a guy who becomes a decent player hanging on.

Yeah, this is historically the last year for Dame as only 4 players (Wilt Kareem MJ LBJ) have been older than Dame and led a team to a title.

The build a contender thing around Dame is likely dead unless Cronin pulls off some epic draft trades. Assuming nothing like that is available, it's time to build this team for the future.

This is wrong. Off-hand, Curry just did it last year.

I don't get the knock on Bridges not being an All-Star. We don't care what he did in the past. We are projecting what someone is going to do in the future. And he is a slam-dunk (injury non-withstanding) of being one next year, if not dealt. Otherwise you would never pick a player in a draft (haven't proven a thing) and would always deal high picks for vets.

High picks are 19. Bridges is 27.

I think we’re keeping the pick. And I’m happy about it.

sure, I could be wrong about all this...

but I'm a Dame fan who doesn't want him traded and has never believed he's been close to asking out

and even before the lottery I was saying I wanted the Blazers to keep the pick; I believed they would keep the pick; and that Dame would end up OK with it

I have never accepted the Dame or #3 - either/or choice that has been hammered into this forum, time and time again, over and over, in thread after thread, by the same people. I have always thought it was a false choice that dismissed and discounted all sorts of viable options

so yeah, I agree...I think Portland keeps the pick

Even if it's Scoot? Is his fit next to Dame any better than CJ or Ant?
If it's for Miller I say go for it. I just don't see how Scoot makes any more of a difference than the situation has been for years.

if Scoot has the same talent level as CJ or Ant, then he's grossly overrated and hopefully Portland sees that

that sure will come as a surprise to a lot of people though. And if Scoot is as good as Derrick Rose and Ja Morant, then Dame/Scoot will be a lot better than Dame/CJ and Dame/Ant and it won't matter. Dame's current deal will end when Scoot would be ready for his extension

the Dame/CJ and Dame/Ant combos didn't fail just because of size; they failed because CJ and Ant have tier 3 talent.

I hope we keep it too. I think it bodes very well for the future of the franchise longer than trading it for the next two years of dames prime.

I ain't mad if we trade it unless it's for Markannen or Porzingas.
If we trade it for Markannen or Porzingis..holy fucking hell man that’s franchise suicide. That’s why I think we keep it. There’s no one worth trading it for that im aware of. I took Thursday off from work I can’t fucking wait

If we didn’t move up I’d be a lot more keen on trading it..but the fact that we got #3…this is the most excited I’ve been about the draft in 16 years

Bill Simmons says a reliable source told him that Zion won’t be with the Pels past Thursday. Makes you wonder if it’s to us or Charlotte.
